The nation has seen pretty good weather this spring, with highs of almost 30C in some regions. As the season winds down, and June brings the start of summer, there are hopes that the warm weather will continue.

Shoppers who are in the market for a new fan may want to consider a bladeless option. Bladeless fans have gained popularity over the last few years, as they don’t gather dust like traditional fans do.

This makes them easier to clean and also more user-friendly for people who suffer from allergies. Dyson arguably leads the market with its Purifier Cool Gen1, a two-in-one cooling and air purifying system.

The fan captures and traps pollutants, has ten settings and is operated by a remote control. However, with a pricetag of £349.99, it it’s at the top end of the market, and costs more than most households may be willing to spend.

Pro Breeze is another leading brand for fans, and its devices are mid-range price-wise, making its models appealing to a larger majority of consumers. For instance, its Bladeless Tower Fan is £134.99, and many customers have likened its performance and quality to that of Dyson.

Pro Breeze air cooling device

The Tower Fan by Pro Breeze is made with ‘Air Stream Cooling Technology’, which amplifies cooling power to send a stream of cold air across rooms. It has large 4mm vents, which are useful during heatwaves.

Another alternative is Bush’s Tower Fan, which is £65 at Argos. This is a traditional blade fan that comes with a multi-functional remote. It has three settings and also has an oscillating function.

Returning to Amazon’s Pro Breeze device, it has more than 700 reviews, with one shopper commenting: “This fan has proven to be a great Dyson alternative so far. I brought it for my son, who sleeps in a bed tent (he’s autistic), and it helps cool him down during the high heat.

“It’s not that loud, turns itself off, and has an easy-to-use touch-button panel on the front that my son knows how to use. So, it’s not at all complicated.”

A second consumer rated it two stars, as they found it too loud: “This fan is so loud I have to turn my TV up! I have a cheap one that is quieter and just as powerful. Sorry, I can’t recommend this as it’s too loud, definitely not ultra quiet.

A third buyer said: “Probably the best fan I’ve ever owned. I went through quite a lot of cheap fans and I’ve had Dyson ones. But this is by far the best I’ve seen, especially for bladeless.

“It does have 6 speed settings. The first 2 settings are definitely kind of quiet, so pretty good for those who hate sounds and have a decent amount of air.”

They added: “The 6th setting is really powerful a strong wind but sounds almost like a vacuum cleaner but not as bad. Still I wouldn’t think it’s ideal to sleep with the 6th setting unless you do like the sound of the fan like me.

“The size is good usually with most fans it can barely reach the top of my bed but this goes above the height of it which is really good. 5/5 definitely recommend.”

A fourth concluded “As a fan this is great, easily as cooling as a Dyson or bigger more expensive brand, even on low settings you can feel it. The instructions are easy to follow, the remote is easy to use.

“It’s a little chunky not massively but there’s definitely more streamlined versions out there. It’s not deafeningly loud, but you can hear it as it’s not silent either. I do think it’s a great fan for the money, though. I would definitely buy again.”

A third fan option comes courtesy of Shark, where consumers can pick up a FlexBreeze Portable Fan for £175, down from £199.99. The hybrid indoor and outdoor fan comes with a cover, a pedestal stand, a remote controller and an InstaCool Misting Attachment.
