Amazon’s new and improved 4K Fire TV is ‘exceptional value’ with £180 price drop

By staff27 February 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Amazon has launched a new edition of its Amazon Fire TV 4-Series and reduced it by 42%, with shoppers saying its ‘excellent considering the price’.

Amazon has released an upgraded model of its flagship Fire TV and cut the price by £180 in a limited time deal. The new 43″ Amazon Fire TV 4-Series is now available for £249.99, a whopping 42% drop from its usual £429.99 price tag.

There’s also big savings on the 50″ model, now priced at £339.99, and the 55″ model at £369.99. The 4-series is Amazon’s popular 4K Ultra HD smart TV, which saw an upgrade in 2024 with the introduction of a new ultra-slim bezel for a more immersive edge-to-edge display.

This model boasts 4K UHD picture quality, delivering crisper and more vibrant images with brighter colours compared to 1080p Full HD. It also features Dolby Digital Plus surround sound, which Dolby touts as its ‘advanced audio technology’.

With the Fire TV, users can easily access a plethora of films and series on streaming apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and more, while the included Alexa Voice Remote Enhanced allows hands-free content search. Alexa can also be used to check the weather, place Amazon orders and control compatible smart devices like lights or thermostats, reports Wales Online.

As a new device, the upgraded Amazon Fire TV 4-Series has so far only received 29 reviews from Amazon customers, but 23 of these are four or five-star. Buyers have been impressed with the TV’s ‘great picture and sound’, which make it a ‘bargain at this price’.

One happy customer said: “Easy to set up and good all round value. The picture quality is pretty good and the sound quality is very good. Easy to set up. Used a Fire Stick controller in the past so used to the button layout, although there are more buttons on this. Overall, very happy with my purchase.”

Another said: “Quite a bargain at this price point. Easy to set up, picture quality is fine for the price I paid. Sound is OK too. After a week of ownership it’s even better. Getting this thing playing wirelessly through my Yammy amp was a breeze. My friends that have seen this in action are full of praise given the price paid. You will struggle to find anything better for under £400.”

A third buyer said: “Excellent considering the price. Picture quality was better than I expected at this price and I didn’t find the interface particularly slow as others have reported. Setup was easy as were the automatic software updates. For the money and as a second TV this represents exceptional value.”

However, one less-impressed shopper noted some downsides, writing: “Decent picture quality for a budget TV but the Freeview guide is slow and clunky compared to every other brand I have used. The remote is awkward with very small buttons close together. These things spoil an otherwise decent TV.”

Those eyeing luxury TV models may also want to consider the new Sky Glass Gen 2, which the provider launched earlier this year. Sky’s new and improved smart TV boasts a crisper, brighter 4K QLED display versus its predecessor and has seven Dolby Atmos-powered speakers built in.

Prices start at £29 per month, with each package including more than 100 TV channels like Sky Atlantic, as well as free subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+. This comes as Virgin Media has brought back its popular free Hisense TV deal, with new customers able to get a 4K model with select TV and broadband bundles until March 3.
