Angelina Jolie was joined by her daughter Zahara as they attended the 82nd Golden Globe Awards together, with the mother-daughter duo opting for coordinating looks
Angelina Jolie’s daughter Zahara dazzled as she joined her doting mum at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, 5 January – and fans couldn’t help but notice one detail.
As she joined her mum on the red carpet, Zahara, 19, looked sensational as she sported a chic white gown which featured an ornate botanical design on the front.
When it came to accessorising the look, Zahara paired her white gown with an assortment of jewellery, including a number of piercings which she wore in a mixture of gold and silver metals. In one ear, she appeared to have at least 12 piercings, while another seemed to have around 14. Ear piercings aside, Zara also wore a trendy septum piercing in her nose, bringing her piercing count to around 28.
Meanwhile, Angelina, who was nominated for best performance by a female actor in a motion picture in the drama category for her role in Maria, also showed off several piercings. As well as wearing a number of piercings in her ears, she wore an ear cuff for extra drama.
In keeping with her daughter’s timeless gown, the Mr & Mrs Smith actress wore a stylish beaded Alexander McQueen gown. The silver dress featured sheer panels as well as beads and crystals, making it the perfect accompaniment to Zara’s floor-length number.
Angelina’s Golden Globes appearance comes after she revealed how a tough encounter inspired her to “find my voice” during her role as Maria Callas. In a chat with Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, the Hollywood icon reflected on her time playing the operatic superstar.
During the discussion, Academy Award winner Angelina admitted that she’d spent seven months preparing for the part, with filming spanning three months, where she chose to sing live. With Cynthia calling the prospect of singing live “thrilling”, Angelina shared her own opinions on the matter.
“For you I’m sure it’s thrilling because you know how good your voice is, for me [it was] more terrifying than thrilling,” she revealed. In turn, Angelina went on to reveal how she initially asked to sing in a small room though gained confidence as the production progressed.
“I feel so many emotions when it comes to this piece because I had someone in my life say that I couldn’t sing,” she said. “They didn’t even say [I] couldn’t sing, I kind of was singing something little and they kind of laughed a little bit at me. And it really locked me, I don’t think I would have ever tried had this not come. I would have just lived my whole life never finding my voice.”
