Animal communicator shares 3 telltale sign your dog really loves you

For anyone who has ever wondered if their four-legged friend loves them back, then one animal communicator has shared the three things to look out for

An animal whisperer has just shared the top three signs that show your pooch is truly potty about you, a heartwarming bit of news for dog fans. Danielle McKinnon, who has spent 20 years tuning into the animal psyche, is on a mission to bridge the gap between pets and their humans, aiming to deepen the understanding of each other’s feelings and thoughts.

In her latest TikTok clip, the US-based professional shed light on the actions that reveal a dog’s deep-seated love for their owner. She explained: “First, they feel comfortable looking you in the eye and doing nothing else. It’s a gentle stare and it feels awesome.

“Second, they like to touch you but in that touch they’re also okay not facing you. It means they trust your energy.”

Then Danielle delivered the crucial tip – and if this doesn’t ring true, then maybe your dog, cat, horse or guinea pig doesn’t hold you dear.

She revealed: “Well, this third one is, they do love you. They have mastered unconditional love. It’s just sometimes their love looks different to what yours looks like.”

It comes as Dr James Greenwood, the resident vet on ITV’s The Pet Show, recently delved into how to tell if you’re the apple of your pet’s eye and tips for nurturing that special connection.

Dr Greenwood recommended keeping an eye on your dog’s tail wags to figure out if you’re their number one human.

He explained: “It’s all about the tail with dogs! They can express a whole range of emotions through their tail wag. Whilst it’s important to note not all tail wagging is a sign of happiness, there are two types that signal pure joy in our dogs.”

Adding to the insights on canine communication, he mentioned that pooches don’t only wag their tails to show love. They also have other ways like snuggling up with their chosen human on the sofa during the late evening.

Dr Greenwood highlighted the significance of this gesture, saying if your dog comes to you for a cuddle voluntarily, it’s a true sign of their affection and trust – they count on you for protection while they’re at their most vulnerable during sleep.

Building a stronger bond with your four-legged friend is straightforward, asserted Dr Greenwood, stressing the importance of spending quality time together.

Summing up, he suggested: “A daily walk is essential; dogs love using their senses to smell and explore and need to burn off calories exercising. I would also suggest setting up an obstacle course or using puzzle feeders to get them thinking and problem-solving.”

Treats are a great incentive when training, as dogs tend to respond well to food rewards for excellent behaviour.

Echoing Dr Greenwood’s thoughts were pet owners on social media, sharing tales of how their furry friends showed loyalty.

A statement from a Reddit user resonated with this sentiment: “My oldest dog was actually adopted for my son, but she has definitely chosen me as her person. She comes to me for comfort when she’s scared, she sleeps in my bed, and gets extremely jealous when our cats and younger pup try to be near me.”

Another pet parent shared: “Our younger dog sings the craziest song whenever she sees my daughter’s cat pull into our driveway. She acts like my daughter has been gone for a year, and rears up on her little hind legs, puts her paws together, and prances when she sees her come in the door. It’s heartwarming.”
