Antony is currently thriving with Spanish side Real Betis following a January loan exit from Manchester United and has sent a message to the Red Devils’ current boss after green-lighting his move
Antony has wished Ruben Amorim all the best after hailing the talents of the Manchester United boss. The Brazilian winger is currently in the middle of a loan spell with Spanish side Real Betis.
His move to La Liga has allowed him to show his best form after a very difficult spell at Old Trafford. The former Ajax man has four goals, as many assists and some big performances under his belt for Betis, having scored just once for United this term.
Amorim was the man to approve Antony’s exit, with it being suggested that he faces little prospect of a future with his parent side. But that has not impaired Antony’s view of Amorim having given him a glowing reference.
As quoted by ESPN Brazil, he said: “I’ve only had a short time working with [Amorim], but he’s a very good coach. A very intelligent coach. United are going through a difficult time at the moment, but he’s a good coach.
“I had a good relationship with him, but I needed a new challenge and I wish him all the luck in the world in this final stretch of the season.”

Antony’s comments come just a short time after his agent had been drawn into a tense war of words with the United boss. Amorim had previously suggested that the winger’s success in La Liga was due to the less physical nature of the division compared to the Premier League.
That claim did not go down well with Antony’s representative Junior Pedroso. Speaking with Marca, he said: “We respect the opinion of coach Ruben Amorim, but we completely disagree with his analysis.
“To attribute Antony’s lack of success at Manchester United solely to the question of physicality is a very superficial argument and does not reflect reality.
“The truth is that Antony has not had enough prominence or the confidence necessary to play his best football.

“Of the 15 games in which Amorim managed Manchester United, he only used Antony in nine, with a total of 252 minutes played. This represents only 18.6% of the total possible minutes (1,350 minutes). How can you judge an athlete without a minimum sequence to prove his worth?
“The manager’s statement, although perhaps it was not his intention, ends up devaluing La Liga and the Spanish competitions.
“Spanish football has one of the most competitive leagues in the world, with top-level teams that constantly compete in the final stages of the Champions League and the Europa League.”
