Own an Android phone? You can now get a blockbuster update from Apple for free.
If you have an Android phone in your pocket, there’s some good news from an unlikely source. Apple has just announced that it’s bringing one of its popular services to these rival devices, and it’s even possible to get the boost for free.
The update offers those with devices such as the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S24 or Google Pixel 9 or Pixel 8, the chance to download, access and use the popular Apple TV+ app.
This platform, which is similar to Netflix and Disney+, launched all the way back in 2019, and despite arriving on gadgets such as Sky boxes, Amazon Fire TV Sticks and LG TVs, those with Android have been left in the dark.
Luckily, that’s now changing.
It’s been confirmed that Apple TV+ is available to download for free from the Google Play store right now. If that wasn’t good enough, Apple says it is even offering Android fans 7 days of full access without paying the usual £8.99 per month fee.
For those not aware, it offers subscribers access to exclusive shows and movies such as Slow Horses, Ted Lasso, Severance, Shrinking, Coda, and The Morning Show. A lot of this content has won awards and critical acclaim.
Everything on Apple TV+ can be streamed or downloaded to watch on the move when there’s no phone signal.
There are also features such as easy ways to continue watching shows and movies via the specific rail on the home screen. It even works seamlessly with other devices, so you can start watching on Android and carry on from where you left off on your Apple TV or Sky box.
If you love football, there’s is also access to US action from the MLS – via an extra Season Pass – with users able to tune into games from this soccer league.
Apple TV+ subscribers can also enjoy Sunday Night Soccer, a weekly primetime standalone match showcasing MLS’s most compelling matchups.
If you have Android and fancy giving it a try you can download it how.
