There’s a new iPad mini coming next week and here’s why this machine offers a mighty upgrade.
The popular iPad mini is getting a mighty boost which makes it faster and much smarter. Apple has just confirmed the launch of this diddy new device which, although it looks the same as its predecessor, is now way more powerful thanks to the inclusion of the A17 Pro processor under its glass and metal body.
This latest chip will improve the overall experience for owners with quicker app launching, improved graphics and big advancements for those who like gaming on the move.
Overall, the new iPad mini is set to be around 30% faster than its A15-powered predecessor. There is another big reason why the A17 is so important as it also means this new iPad mini is fully ready for the upcoming Apple Intelligence update which is launching in the UK this December.
Apple Intelligence is a smart free upgrade that will help users perform tasks such as writing emails in different tones along with offering instant photo retouching without needing a degree in Photoshop.
It will also be able to search emails and messages to find flight details, hotel bookings and more via simple searches.
Other features of Apple Intelligence include being able to create customised images just by typing in a description as well as bringing ChatGPT integration for the first time.
Power and intelligence aren’t the only new features with the mini also getting full compatibility with the improved Apple Pencil Pro. This stylus-style accessory offers features such as screen interactions via gentle squeezes and double taps. That means you can launch menus and change tools without having to tap through endless settings. Rotating the barrel changes the orientation of the shaped pen and brush tools, just like pen and paper.
Apple Pencil Pro also features support for Find My so it doesn’t get lost and it snaps neatly to the side of the device for a quick refill.
Other extras on this smaller tablet include fast Wi-Fi 6E, a 12MP wide rear camera and long battery life.
“There is no other device in the world like iPad mini, beloved for its combination of powerful performance and versatility in our most ultraportable design. iPad mini appeals to a wide range of users and has been built for Apple Intelligence, delivering intelligent new features that are powerful, personal, and private,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With the powerful A17 Pro chip, faster connectivity, and support for Apple Pencil Pro, the new iPad mini delivers the full iPad experience in our most portable design at an incredible value.”
It will be available to pre-order today in colours such as blue, purple, starlight, and space grey and it starts shipping next week.
Prices start from £499.
