Parents are being urged to return the Orchard Toys Fun Food Bingo game for a full refund over fears there may be small amounts of mildew on the cotton bag included in the game
Argos has recalled a popular Christmas present for kids over fears it could be contaminated by mildew.
Parents are being urged to return the Orchard Toys Fun Food Bingo game to their nearest Argos store for a full refund. The game was priced at £10 and has now been removed from the Argos website. It was sold between September 1 and December 23.
In the description of the game, the rules are described as follows: “Simply draw a card from the bag and call out the friendly food character you’ve found. If the food matches a picture on anyone’s board, those players place a knife and fork counter over the matching space. The first person to cover their board and shout ‘Bingo!’ wins.”
A notice on the Argos website reads: “Orchard Toys is recalling the above Fun Food Bingo; the product may present a risk of microbial contamination. It has been identified that there may be small amounts of mildew on the cotton bag included in the game. Mildew may pose a risk to health in individuals with compromised immune systems, damaged lungs or an allergy to mildew.”
“Please stop using the toy immediately, check if you have an affected batch and if so, return it to your local Argos store for a full refund or contact Argos direct on 0800 011 3462 Monday to Sunday 08:00 – 20:00. We take the quality and safety of our products extremely seriously and would like to apologise to customers affected for any inconvenience this may cause. No other Orchard Toys products are affected by this recall.”
For all product recalls, you can check the Food Standards Agency and Chartered Trading Standards Institute websites. You should also notice recall notices in stores if they’ve pulled a product from shelves.
In other recall news, Tesco has issued a warning over its own-brand packs of ten cooked beef slices with a use-by date of January 24, 2025. This product, which comes in a 125g pack and costs £1.45, was labelled incorrectly – the correct use-by date was actually December 24, 2025.
It comes after Tesco recalled its Tesco Finest All Butter Pastry Mince Pies because they may contain pieces of dried glue from packaging. This included the following best before dates: October 4, 2024, October 26, 2024, November 2, 2024 and November 10, 2024.
Meanwhile, Aldi recalled its Let’s Party Vegetable Bao Buns because they may contain sesame, which is not mentioned on the label. This means they could be a health risk to anyone who is allergic to sesame. The bao buns may also contain duck meat, which is also not listed on the packaging.
