If you’re in the market for a new telly, it can be a bit of a minefield with all the options and jargon to navigate. But Argos customers are in luck, as they can bag a bargain on this discounted TCL TV that’s brimming with the latest features – and delivers top-notch quality too.

The TCL SF560 is a 32-inch telly, but it enhances the picture quality with Full HD resolution and a comprehensive range of apps and services thanks to the Fire TV system that it operates. Previously tagged as high as £219 in some shops, Argos is currently selling this TV for £139 – and shoppers will get a lot for their money.

One of the standout features of this TCL TV is the Freely system that it provides – meaning you can watch live channels without the need for an aerial. This makes setting up and positioning the telly a breeze, perfect for bedrooms or the kitchen.

TCL is a game-changing brand and over the past few years has carved out a reputation for itself with tellies that are chock-full of the latest tech, but at more wallet-friendly prices. Compare this to Samsung’s 32-inch telly and it offers higher resolution for a crisper picture, as well as Freely to stream that live telly.

It also boasts a design that looks almost bezel-less, so even though it’s a telly at the budget end of the scale, it has a premium design. The TCL SF560 is powered by Fire TV, Amazon’s own telly platform.

This means it provides the same experience as a Fire TV Stick, with access to all the same streaming apps and services. It’s smart, and despite having two HDMI sockets at the back, there’s no need to plug in a separate streaming player.

Some punters have noted that this telly doesn’t support BBC iPlayer, but it’s now on the BBC’s approved devices list, and a software update in July added support for BBC iPlayer. This is an LED display with colours enhanced by Quantum Dots, and it also supports HDR, so when streaming, viewers will benefit from boosted colour and contrast thanks to this more advanced tech.

Feedback for the picture quality has been positive, with many customers singing its praises. One person said: “The picture quality is excellent for this price range – far better than I expected.”

Another commented: “Very thin and frameless screen, excellent picture.” This telly comes with two 8W speakers, which are rather basic, so users might find the sound a bit tinny.

Indeed, some customers have remarked on the sound, saying: “Sound quality is dreadful … so I would strongly suggest purchasing a sound bar”, which would be good advice if using this as your main TV.

Freely has gained traction amongst viewers because it eliminates the need for an aerial connection. This means the TCL SF560 TV can be positioned in a bedroom without any concerns about wiring. Some customers rave about Freely, declaring: “Great example and true progress, no aerial required.”

However, others haven’t found the Freely experience quite so seamless: “It does throw a wobbly on occasion and locks up between switching back to Freely after watching Fire TV and SkyQ.”

As a television critic who has tested numerous Freely-enabled sets – I own two Freely TVs at home which I use every day – I can appreciate both perspectives. Freely requires a robust Wi-Fi signal to load content swiftly, and when initially accessing the programme guide, it can take a moment to refresh, reports Birmingham Live.

Freely also displays its available channels, though it’s not yet as comprehensive as Freeview – this television also features a Freeview tuner as an alternative. But once you’re viewing, I’ve discovered Freely performs just as well as Freeview on the primary channels.

There’s plenty crammed into this 32-inch TCL television, boasting an remarkable array of technology. Shoppers who remain unconvinced will discover that Samsung’s Black Friday deals feature a selection of discounted 32-inch televisions as well.
