Gunshots and death threats were heard in a quite estate in Wales as armed police raced to the scene.
The disturbance on Ringland Circle, Newport at around 11.40pm on Thurday night saw officers, including specially trained firearms officers, attending the area along with the National Police Air Service. Two vehicles believed to be connected to the incident were tracked and three men, all aged 22 were arrested on suspicion of multiple offences including threats to kill. They all remain in police custody at the time of publishing, according to Gwent Police who added that enquiries were ongoing and crime scene investigators were still in the area gathering evidence.
A Gwent Police spokesman said: “We received reports of a disturbance on Ringland Circle, Newport, after gunshots were reportedly heard at around 11.40pm on Thursday, July 10.
“Officers, including specially trained firearms officers, were deployed to the area and, with the assistance of NPAS, tracked two vehicles suspected to be connected.
“We’ve arrested three men – all aged 22 – on suspicion of multiple offences including threats to kill. They all remain in police custody at this time.
“No injuries have been reported, while enquiries are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances there will be in an increased police presence and CSI officers in the area.”
