Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri both had impressive seasons by becoming key figures in Mikel Arteta’s Gunners squad but face stiff competition from a new Chelsea star
Six players have been shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Season with the country’s professionals voting for a pair of breakthrough Arsenal stars and two players who have already made big money transfers.
Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri both had impressive seasons by becoming key figures in Mikel Arteta’s Gunners squad as they finished second in the top flight and were beaten in the Champions League semi-finals by eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.
Lewis-Skelly also scored on his England senior debut against Albania in March, while team-mate Nwaneri, 17, scored nine times in 37 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions.
And they are joined by Liam Delap, who this week made his Chelsea debut after being poached from relegated Ipswich Town having scored a dozen goals for the Tractor Boys.
Bournemouth’s impressive campaign is also rewarded by Dean Huijsen, who made his Real Madrid debut on Wednesday night in the Club World Cup draw against Al Hilal, and Liverpool-bound Hungarian full back Milos Kerkez named among the six best youngsters.

And last but not least is Aston Villa starlet Morgan Rogers, who started all but one league game for the club while registering eight league goals and 10 assists. He also earned a maiden call up to the England senior team
The winner will be honoured on August 19 at the 52nd annual PFA Awards, which will be held in Manchester with Mohamed Salah expected to take the coveted Players’ Player of the Year gong.
Meanwhile, the Championship Players’ Player of the Year shortlist has been announced with two members of Leeds’ table-topping squad and a pair of promoted Burnley stars included.
The Whites’ Dan James and Ao Tanaka are joined by Clarets goalkeeper James Trafford and Josh Brownhill. Sheffield United’s Gus Hamer and Borja Sainz complete that shortlist.
League One champions Birmingham City have two players nominated in their division’s category with 19-goal Jay Stansfield joined by Japanese international Tomoki Iwata.
The division’s top scorer Charlie Kelman, from Leyton Orient, plus Wycombe’s Richard Kone, Peterborough player Kwame Poku and Barnsley’s Davis Keillor-Dunn.
