Arsenal transfer news: Andrea Berta in negotiations with succession of deals lined up

By staff29 August 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Arsenal have splashed over £260million on new players for Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer, but are still targeting more deals before the window closes on Monday

Arsenal are preparing for an early test of their Premier League title credentials when they head to Anfield on Sunday to face Liverpool, but they also have one eye on the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are running out of time to conclude any more business, with the window closing on Monday night. They have already spent around £260million to bring in Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze, but more deals could still be done.

The injuries to Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz could still be acted upon, while another defender is on the cards for Mikel Arteta. Meanwhile, there remains a need to balance the books with sales.

Here Mirror Football takes a look at the possible deals that could happen over the weekend, with sporting director Andrea Berta still busy.

Hincapie negotiations hold up Kiwior exit

Porto are reportedly unhappy with Arsenal after the north London club put the brakes on the exit of Jakub Kiwior. Kiwior is poised to leave for the Portuguese club for €27m (£23m) and Porto had booked flights to whisk him away on successive days – only to have to cancel them.

Arsenal want to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen first before they give the sign-off for Kiwior to leave, according to O Jogo. As Mirror Football reported on Tuesday, Leverkusen are playing hard ball over Hincapie, who is under contract until June 2029.

Leverkusen have already lost Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Granit Xhaka this summer and won’t sell for less than Hincapie’s £52m (€60m) release clause.

Palace emerge as Nelson option

Arsenal have been keen to offload Reiss Nelson all summer and have so far been frustrated, but it seems they might be about to make a breakthrough. Fulham had been in talks to take the winger, after he spent last season on loan there, but nothing materialised.

Now Crystal Palace are interested in signing the 25-year-old. Palace are scouring the market for players after losing Eberechi Eze for £67.5m and Nelson is among those on their shortlist, with a potential £15m deal on the cards.

However, Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis is Oliver Glasner’s top target and Yeremy Pino is set to join the club from Villarreal after a deal worth up to £26m. A deal for Leicester’s Bilal El Khannouss broke down after the Foxes’ need to sell was eased by James Justin’s move to Leeds.

Midfielder scouted

Real Sociedad defender Jon Martin has caught the eye of Arsenal scouts, according to the Daily Mail. Arsenal signed Zubimendi from the Spanish side this summer and Mikel Merino from there the year before, while Martin Odegaard also spent time in the Basque country, so there is an obvious link between the two clubs.

The 19-year-old is a regular for Spain under-19s and played for his country at the Under-19 European Championship this summer. The 6ft 2in defender is good in the air, but would be considered one for the future.

Arsenal have also linked with Girona’s Arnau Martinez in recent days, so it seems they have not stopped pursuing defenders, despite signing Mosquera from Valencia.
