Arsenal transfer news: Eberechi Eze next step as Man Utd target added to shortlist

By staff22 August 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Arsenal are expected to seal a deal for Eberechi Eze as Mikel Arteta continues to strengthen his side in the summer transfer window as the Gunners look to win the Premier League

Arsenal burst back into life in the transfer window to agree a deal for Eberechi Eze and overtake Spurs in the race for the Crystal Palace star’s signature. The England international would add another blockbuster arrival for Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Eze will join the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and Victor Gyokeres as the Gunners look to finally earn a Premier League title under their Spanish coach. The midfielder’s arrival could be timely after Kai Havertz’s latest injury.

It is Eze’s arrival that will dominate headlines in the coming days, but where will Arsenal move next? Departures may be required.

Kieran Tierney and Jorginho have left for free already but the likes of Oleksandr ZInchenko, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Jukub Kiwior could yet bring in finances. It is that area that is said to have been a priority late in the window.

Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours around the Emirates.

Arsenal add to shortlist

Arsenal have placed Lyon forward Malick Fofana onto the shortlist according to reports from France. The 20-year-old remains a key player for the French side but has piqued interest from the Gunners ahead of the end of the transfer window, per L’Équipe.

Lyon are already said to have seen an over from Everton, and Fofana has also been linked with Manchester United. The Ligue 1 giants are still in financial strife and require €40m (£34.6m) to be raised by the end of the month — the valuation of Fofana.

Arsenal are not alone in putting Fofana into their consideration however. Bayern Munich are also reported to be considering a move in the final days of the transfer window.

Goalkeeper nears move

Werder Bremen are closing in on the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein, per Kicker, via Sport Witness. The Bundesliga side were debating the deal as they also considered Alexander Schwolow but have opted for the Gunners shotstopper.

A deal is now said to be imminent between the sides. Per Mertesacker, Arsenal’s head of youth development, is reported to have been involved in negotiations. The north London side are expected to bring in a fee of less than €1m (£0.87m).

Eze schedule

Eberechi Eze is expected to have his medical on Friday. The midfield star has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal ahead of a switch to the Emirates with only formalities remaining to get a deal over the line.

It would see a tight schedule for the 27-year-old to meet the deadline required to feature this weekend however. Arsenal face Leeds on Saturday evening.

The Crystal Palace time needs to be registered with his new club by 12pm to be eligible to feature. That could see Arsenal’s prospective signing come against Liverpool the following week.
