Arsenal have endued a difficult January transfer window, with the Gunners yet to make a single signing, and their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko now appears to be in serious doubt
There are just 10 days left of the January transfer window, with Arsenal yet to make a signing.
Injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka have left the Gunners desperately short of forward options. While Mikel Arteta has made it clear he wants to add a striker to his squad this month, that task has proven to be harder than expected.
Several players have been linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium, including Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko. But so far none have arrived, with the Gunners now battling to save a deal for Sesko.
The chase for Cunha does still seem to be alive, even with Nottingham Forest providing strong competition. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Arsenal transfer news.
Battle on to rescue Sesko deal
Arsenal are battling to rescue a deal for Benjamin Sesko, as they push to bring in attacking reinforcements. The 21-year-old has emerged as the Gunners’ leading target, having scored 14 goals in 26 games for RB Leipzig this season.
But according to Sky Germany, West Ham are in advanced talks to sign Sesko’s team-mate Andre Silva. If he does join the Hammers, then Leipzig would be unlikely to allow Sesko to depart as well.
They could greenlight Sesko’s departure if they are able to bring in a replacement. Denmark international Mathias Kvistgaarden is currently their top target, but Celtic look set to wrap up a deal for the Brondby star.

Cunha interest detailed
Arsenal are understood to be the club ‘most interested’ in signing Wolves star Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian has starred for Wolves this season, scoring 10 goals and notching four assists in the Premier League.
His performances have seen him attract the eyes of suitors such as Arsenal and Nottingham Forest. According to UOL, the Gunners are currently the frontrunners and are the side ‘most interested’ in doing a deal this month.
They will get a closer look at him on Saturday when Mikel Arteta’s side travel to Molinuex. Cunha is likely to feature for the Midlands side in the lunchtime kick-off.
Arteta’s issues plea
Mikel Arteta has pleaded with Arsenal chiefs to bring in a striker before the end of the transfer window. But the Gunners boss has insisted that they should only bring someone in if they believe he will be a good fit for the club.
“My opinion is clear – we lost two very important players in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, so we lack goals, people and options in the front line, it’s clear. If we can get the right player, that’s what we are actively looking at, but any player – no,” he said.
“We need someone that makes us better and makes an impact on the team, it’s clear that for the period that we have lost them ideally, we need some help because we were short already and we’re even shorter. The team has still coped with that but we have to do what is right for the club.”
