Arsenal transfer news: Mikel Arteta makes Eberechi Eze plan as £17m price tag set

By staff9 July 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Arsenal have already made two major signings in Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi and more could be on the way as Mikel Arteta eye up moves for Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze

Arsenal’s summer transfer window is taking flight after sealing two major deals – and more deals are in the pipeline too as Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta ramp up the club’s business.

Arteta is desperate to get the Gunners in contention for silverware this season and he knows the team must strengthen as much as possible to keep pace with Premier League champions Liverpool and Manchester City.

Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has already arrived from Chelsea for £5million while Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi joined in a £60m deal.

The Gunners are now seeking to wrap up more deals for their biggest targets, including for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, who could cost them as much as £70m.

Mirror Football has taken a look through some of the biggest Arsenal transfer headlines and rumours.

Arsenal outline Eze plan

Eberechi Eze has emerged as Arsenal’s next big target after Gyokeres and now it appears the club are finally making moves to bring the Crystal Palace star to the Emirates.

Eze has a £60m release clause but Arsenal are unwilling to shell out such a high fee after already paying a similar price for Zubimendi. Arsenal are also hoping to sign Gyokeres for around £70m and Christian Norgaard is joining for about £12m.

As a result, Arsenal are proposing to sign Eze in three instalments of just over £20m, which would eventually take the fee up to his £68m release clause.

The report adds that Arsenal is Eze’s preferred destination but that rivals Liverpool could “activate their long-standing interest”.

Norgaard to join this week

One deal that looks certain to be completed at the Emirates is for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard, who is set to join for around £12m.

The 31-year-old, who captains the Bees, has proved himself to be one of the most reliable midfielders in the Premier League and he will now link up with the Gunners to bolster their midfield, joining Zubimendi after the departures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey.

Norgaard scored five goals and assisted four for Brentford last season and has been a long-serving player since joining them in the Championship back in 2019. He’s made a total of 196 appearances, scoring 13 times, and will now add some much-needed steel to Arsenal’s midfield.

A deal for Norgaard is expected to be completed by the end of this week.

Arsenal could consider Trossard bids

With so many incomings at Arsenal, it’s inevitable that Arteta will have to consider some outgoings too in order to balance the books.

Arsenal will need to stay within PSR regulations after spending big money in the window and one player who could depart is forward Leandro Trossard. The Belgian forward has been linked with an exit in recent months after struggling to become a first team regular at Arsenal and now the club are willing to consider bids.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal could allow Trossard to leave if they received a bid of around £17m. Trossard has proved himself a useful member of Arsenal’s squad since joining from Brighton for around £27m in 2020, playing 124 times and scoring 28.

He hit 17 goals in his second second season and scored ten times last season, but his future appears uncertain as he will have to compete with Gabriel Martinelli for a starting spot, while Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka also provide stiff competition on the right wing.
