Asda shoppers say ‘hear me out’ after new £1.38 item released

By staff8 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

The new sweet treat is sure to please a crowd – but some aren’t convinced

Asda shoppers were stunned by the size of its newest sweet treat that landed on shelves this week – and took up quite a bit of space. Some were not too convinced by the quality of the supermarket dessert that came in at under £2, and could easily feed a crowd of people.

Posting in the Snack Reviews Facebook group, Daniel asked: “Trying to convince myself this still counts as one doughnut. A Giant Pink Doughnut covered in sprinkles from ASDA – and yes, it’s the size of my forearm.”

One said: “The size of that!” Another wrote: “Perfect alternative for people who don’t like birthday cake.” A third put: “There’s only one. It’s one donut!”

Someone else joked: “Does this still count as one doughnut then?” And, a fifth person responded: “Yes that is one donut and if the icing is strawberry it will also count towards one of your five a day!”

Some suggested ways to elevate the treat into a real showstopper. One said: “Hear me out. This sliced open like a sub with Nutella whipped cream and sliced strawberries.” Another asked the supermarket bosses: “Imagine doing this with one of the Asda cookies!”

In another Facebook post by Dansway Gifts and Bargains, the doughnut ‘stick’ was met with some criticism. One person put: “Had one yesterday was ok would been nice with some jam inside.”

Another said: “Need to be filled with something like the custard or caramel.” But, some were thrilled at the thought of the £1.38 treat, as a third person declared: “What a time to be alive!”

The massive doughnut isn’t available to purchase online, at the time this article was written. Shoppers are having to go in-store and see if the bakery section has put any of the treats out.

In other Asda news, shoppers at certain branches might notice a major change rolling out. In select Express stores, staff will no longer have to update paper price tickets on the shelves as they are being replaced with digital tags that can be updated in seconds.

Also, shoppers have been reminded that other supermarkets are currently in the middle of their huge toy sales – just in time for Christmas. Shops like Tesco and Morrisons have deals on big-name brands, whilst the likes of Aldi and Lidl will be selling toys that are exclusive to their stores throughout October and November.
