Bad Bunny has perfect response to MAGA critics ahead of Super Bowl performance

By staff6 October 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Bad Bunny’s confirmation as the next Super Bowl halftime performer has caused controversy and anger amongst critics, so the singer shared a few words of advice ahead of the event.

Bad Bunny has become the next singer to perform at the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime show in a decision that has proved to be controversial among many in the US.

Real name Benito Antonio Martinez, he’s currently one of the biggest musicians in the Latin industry. In September 2025, the Puerto Rican singer was confirmed as the performer for Super Bowl LX, set to take place in California in February 2026.

During an appearance hosting the iconic ‘Saturday Night Live’, Bad Bunny addressed the haters during his opening monologue, saying: “You might not know this, but I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy and I think everyone is happy about it – even Fox News.”

To add more fuel to the sarcasm, a heavily edited video played, gathering together comments of different Fox anchors and pundits, saying: “Bad Bunny is my favourite musician and he should be the next president.”

He added: “Thank you. Wow, thank you. But really, I am very excited to be doing the Super Bowl, and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy.” The singer then began speaking in Spanish for a few seconds, finishing up his monologue saying: “If you did not understand what I just said… You have four months to learn.”

During the Spanish portion of his monologue, the singer thanked those artists who paved the way for him, saying some other words aimed at his critics.

He concluded: “Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors. It’s more than a win for myself, it’s a win for all of us. Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”

According to Deadline, Trump advisor Corey Lewandowski warned that ICE agents would be present and patrolling San Francisco during the Super Bowl. He echoed: “There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find and deport you. That is a very real situation.”

Soon to go on a world tour for his latest album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, Bad Bunny revealed to have skipped the US due to ICE concerns. In an interview with i-D magazine, the singer explained: “There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate – I’ve performed there many times. All of the shows have been successful. All of them have been magnificent.”

However, the reggaetón artist hasn’t shied away from Trump’s immigration policies, and even featured him in his music video for the song ‘NUEVAYol’, where an AI-generated voice that sounded like the US president said: “I made a mistake… I want to apologise to the immigrants in America… This country is nothing without the immigrants. This country is nothing without Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Cubans.”
