Barcelona hatch Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford plan triggering two transfer clauses

By staff13 November 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Barcelona want a new striker in the summer and could try to tempt England and Bayern Munich sharpshooter Harry Kane into a new experience in Spain by triggering his release clause

Barcelona are plotting a move that would see England stars Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford combine next season. The Catalan club have made Kane their first-choice target to replace Robert Lewandowski, whose contract is set to expire.

The La Liga champions have not agreed new terms with Poland star Lewandowski and could return to Bayern in a bid to pluck their next veteran forward. Crucially, Kane could be available, if he desires, due to a clause in his contract.

The former Spurs forward, who became the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues, signed for Bayern in a £100million deal in 2023. But the German giants may be forced to allow him to leave for £57m in the summer.

Kane is under contract with the Bundesliga champs until 2027 but they are obliged to accept such an offer provided they are informed of his decision to make an exit before the end of the January transfer window. Spurs hold first refusal after making it a condition of Kane’s sale.

Barcelona see Kane, 32, as an ‘ideal younger replacement’ for Lewandowski, according to the Guardian. It’s no wonder why, with the England star having already bagged 23 goals in 17 appearances this term, as Bayern enjoyed a record start.

A move for Kane could see a second England international plying their trade in Catalonia, with Rashford impressing on his loan from Manchester United. Barca can turn his deal permanent in the summer should they wish.

Hansi Flick has been impressed with Rashford’s contributions thus far. The 28-year-old would appear happy to extend his stay.

But Kane could yet prove difficult to convince. Speaking last month, the striker admitted he was fully focused on Bayern and pushed back on a potential Premier League move.

“In terms of staying there longer, I could definitely see that,” the former Spurs star said. “I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.

“Obviously, it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together. Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else.

“In terms of the Premier League, I don’t know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.

“Now I have been there a couple of years, I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, not so much, but I wouldn’t say I would never go back.

“What I have learnt in my career is that different opportunities and different timings happen and things fall in place. Going back to my first point with Bayern right now, I am fully all in with Bayern.”
