Carol Kirkwood has started a successful career away from BBC Breakfast, and gave an exciting update about her latest news leaving her fans in complete joy
BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood has shared some exciting news about her very successful side hustle.
While the Scottish weather presenter is best known for her work on TV, she’s also making a name for herself in the literary world as a romance author. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier today, she revealed that her writing career was picking up even further.
The Strictly Come Dancing star has four books released, with the first published in 2021 while the most recent came out just last year. Her news was about her third novel, with Carol announcing: “I’m so pleased to let you know that Secrets of the Villa Amore has been selected for a Kindle Monthly Deal (KMD) and will be priced at 99p for the entire month of February. Great news ahead of Valentine’s Day!! Xxx,” she wrote, along with a heart emoji.
One fan misread the happy news, leading to a hilarious interaction. “Great news. Your post about your next book came through as ‘wanted to let you know about my latest romance…. ! I panicked,” they wrote, as Carol responded with laughing emojis.
The fan was concerned about hearing of Carol’s ‘new romance’ after she and Steve Randall – a police officer and father of one – tied the knot on December 27, 2023, a year after they announced their engagement.
Carol started dating Steve in 2021 but made the decision to keep his identity quiet until he propsed. Steve, who is 13 years her junior, split from his wife of 12 years in 2017, while Carol called it a day with her husband of 18 years, Jimmy Kirkwood, in 2008.
Carol gushed about her new domestic life last summer, saying that the first few months of her second marriage had knocked her first out of the water. “Love is lovelier the second time around. No disrespect to my first husband, but this is better,” she told the Times.
Carol added how the early birds work perfectly in sync at home, saying: “I get up at 2.45am. Steve, who’s a police officer, gets up too and makes me a cup of tea. I get to Broadcasting House, which is the headquarters of BBC in London, by 4am.”
After years of keeping her romance secret, she also detailed their enviable meet-cute. “I met Steve at a work function about seven years ago. I was drinking an espresso martini, and Steve very sensibly wasn’t drinking because he’s a policeman and had work the next day,” she said.
“We went on our first lunch date shortly after and had sandwiches and tea. It’s strange to think that neither of us had planned on going to the function, but we changed our minds at the last minute, and if one of us hadn’t, we’d never have met.”
