Chloe Lightfoot died when her Citroen Berlingo van collided with a HGV on Tuesday and her heartbroken family have now released a heartbreaking statement through the police
A “beautiful” young mum was tragically killed in a horror crash as her devastated family paid tribute.
Chloe Lightfoot, 33, was on her way to her home in Spennymoor, County Durham, when her Citroen Berlingo van collided with a HGV near Bowes shortly after 8am on Tuesday. Emergency services including the North East Ambulance Service, Great North Air Ambulance Service and County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene, but despite their best efforts, Chloe passed away.
Durham Police said her family is being supported by specialist officers, and they have issued a statement through the force. Chloe’s devastated relatives described Chloe as “a beautiful young woman” and said she “will never be forgotten.”

The family said: “Chloe was a beautiful young woman, who was a mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, girlfriend, and friend to many. To never see her smile again is breaking our hearts. We are going to miss her every day.
“Our memories have never been so important to us as we try to come to terms with what has happened. We love her so much. She will never be forgotten.”
Earlier today, authorities said a man and a boy tragically died after a car mysteriously drove off the road in South Tyneside. Northumbria Police rushed to John Reid Road in south Shields shortly after 8.55pm last night after a report of a one-vehicle collision involving a white Skoda Octavia. An investigation has been launched, but at this stage the force hasn’t yet confirmed what caused the car to drive off the road.
John Reid Road remains closed in both directions today as investigations are underway and officers carry out enquiries. Nearby Brockley Avenue, a residential area, has also been cordoned off.
The emergency response involved the police, North East Ambulance Service, Great North Air Ambulance as well as Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, Chronicle Live reported. A man in his 40s and a secondary-school-aged boy were found to have suffered serious injuries and were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers, Northumbria Police said. A man in his 30s sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition. He has also been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
