Best value pre-lit Christmas trees to invest in now– and that can save households £875

With Christmas fast approaching, now’s the time to invest in a pre-lit tree that could save households £875 and will last for many holiday seasons to come

Christmas is an expensive time of year for many reasons, with gifts, food, decorations, and celebrations with loved ones all adding up to a substantial cost. As a result, many Brits are seeking ways to reduce their spending during the festive season. And one of the most costly parts of the Christmas period is the tree itself, with 6-foot real fir trees costing up to £65 – a price that adds up over the years.

Meanwhile, online home and garden retailer Christow recommends artificial trees can be an increasingly savvy choice for households, as artificial, pre-lit trees cost between £40 and £100 in a one-time purchase. That means families can break even in as little as one year and save as much as £875 over 15 years, all while reducing annual hassle and spending.

This year, Christow’s debut collection of pre-lit Christmas trees is making festive decorating a breeze. The trees come with built-in LED lights that can switch between warm white and multi-coloured settings, including a flashing option, allowing customers to change the mood or theme at the touch of a button. With timer functions and multiple light effects, families can set their festive glow and forget about it.

Perfect for households that want a timeless look with modern ease, artificial trees reduce the need to splurge every year on a real tree and help minimise extra purchases, including buying separate fairy lights to decorate the trees.

The range, crafted from premium PVC with full, lifelike branches, includes Christow’s Pre-Lit Nordmann Fir (£99.99), which combines the natural, sparse silhouette of a real tree with built-in LED convenience. Available in 6ft, 7ft, and 8ft sizes, it features warm white LEDs, hinged branches for easy assembly, and a sturdy metal stand.

Elsewhere in the collection is the Pre-Lit Chamonix Spruce (£79.99), which features a flocked snow effect and an elegant silhouette. The Pre-Lit Chamonix Spruce is a showstopper. Available in sizes up to 8ft, it comes with colour-change LEDs, multiple light effects, and a timer function, offering both beauty and practicality.

For those who prefer to shop elsewhere, Debenhams offers a wide selection, including this HOMCOM Artificial Pre-lit Christmas Tree (£109.99). Sure to bring holiday spirit to any home, this HOMCOM artificial Christmas Tree is pre-lit with LED lights, offering both warm white and vibrant multi-coloured settings across eleven dazzling modes. Its flame-retardant branches ensure a safe, festive glow, transforming any space into a winter wonderland.

Dunelm also offers a new 7ft Pre-Lit Western Pine Christmas Tree (£99.99), designed with realistic branches and a classic pine look. It’s perfect for creating a full, lifelike display. Warm white LEDs provide a soft, seasonal glow, powered by mains electricity for reliable lighting. Finished with a sturdy metal stand, it’s sure to be a timeless centrepiece for your Christmas celebrations.

Finally, Habitat stocks this 6ft Pre-lit Blue Oscar With Pine Cone Christmas Tree (£75), a green, pre-decorated, artificial 6ft tree that comes pre-lit with 150 warm white bulbs and complete with pinecone decorations and a dusting of snow. The tree slots together easily, and the branches only need a quick tweak and tease to give you a thick and full-looking tree. Although it arrives already decorated, there is still plenty of room to add your own baubles and tinsel for further decoration.
