Two men fell out when one commented on the other’s pet alpaca he was walking down n a street in sunny Tasmania, and then made it worse by confusing it for a llama
A bizarre argument broke out between two men as one nonchalantly walked an alpaca down the street in the middle of the day.
In the footage, a man in a bright orange shirt and sunglasses is seen walking the large animal on a lead on a pavement in Tasmania. Slightly taken aback, the other joked it was a “ big dog, mate”.
However instead of laughing at the fairly harmless joke, the alpaca walker threatened the other man and ordered the camera be taken “out his face”. After swapping insults, the man shouted back: “What do you expect mate, you’re walking a f*****g llama.”
This infuriated the animal lover, who informed the gent: “Go get some f*****g brains, there’s a difference between a f*****g alpaca and a dumb person like you.
“That’s an alpaca, all right?”
The bizarre interaction was shared on X. The poster wrote: “Most Aussie interaction ever. No commentary required from me today.”
Several people could not help but comment on the chat. One said: “This is what happens in Australia when you mis-species someones Alpaca.”
Another joked: “Can men not just walk their alpacas in peace.”
Another added: “I once got thrown out of a petting zoo for punching an alpaca in the face. I was trying to get a picture with it and it leaned down and bit my arm.
“Not thinking I just slugged the s*** out of it. An employee saw and asked me to leave.”
There are several differences between the two animals, which may help the next time some is spotted walking down the street with their pet alpaca. Both animals have been used by humans for transportation and their fleeces for thousands of years and primarily found in Peru and Bolivia.
Llamas usually grow to around four feet tall and alpacas around a foot shorter. Alpacas are gentle, shy and usually pack animals, while llamas are braver and solitary animals.
A key difference is the animals’ hair. An alpaca boasts shaggy hair used for fleeces which can vary from white and black to a light yellow. A llama’s hair is much coarser.
If still confused, perhaps try asking politely – and hope the other person is not having a bad day.
