Ozzy Osbourne will play his last ever gig when he reunites with his Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time in 20 years this summer
Ticket prices for Black Sabbath’s ‘greatest heavy metal show ever’ have been revealed – and they’re not cheap!
Frontman Ozzy Osbourne announced he was reuniting with the band for the first time in 20 years as they play their last ever show later this summer. The 76-year-old will join bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for the farewell gig in their hometown of Birmingham. Ozzy will also play his “own short set” of solo music during the performance.
The band will headline Aston Villa’s 42,000-seat stadium Villa Park on Saturday, July 5. The one-time gig, named “Back To The Beginning” will feature big names in the rock and roll world like Metallica and Slayer. Musicians from bands like Judas Priest, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Guns N’ Roses and The Smashing Pumpkins will also make appearances.
But if you do buy a ticket, with some costing from £495 to £795 if you book a package, at least proceeds from the gig will be split equally across three charities, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Acorn Children’s Hospice and Cure Parkinson’s, which Ozzy suffers from. He revealed his diagnosis in 2020, but still managed to perform a surprise set at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in 2022.
His wife Sharon Osbourne, 72, said the Villa Park gig would be the self-styled Prince of Darkness Ozzy’s last ever show. She told BBC News: “He’s doing great. He’s doing really great. He’s so excited about this, about being with the guys again and all his friends. It’s exciting for everyone. Ozzy didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to his friends, to his fans, and he feels there’s no been no full stop. This is his full stop.”
Revealing more details about the upcoming concert, she added: “It’s an endless amount of people. They’re going to be doing some Sabbath songs, some Ozzy songs, and they’ll all mix together. Different little groups will be coming on, but they’re all icons.”
Standard ticket prices for the show have yet to be released and fans will be able to snap up a maximum of six each when they go on general sale on Friday, February 14. Though those who have signed up to presales will get the chance to buy one earlier.
The Black Sabbath presale starts at 10am on Tuesday, February 11. If you’re an O2 priority customer, the presale goes live on Wednesday, February 12 at 10am. Or if you’re booking through Live Nation, there’s another chance to get one from 10am on Thursday, February 13.
According to the Instagram post Ozzy shared on Wednesday, the music director of the show, Tom Morello – who is known as the guitarist for Rage Against The Machine – said: “This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever.” A quote from Ozzy was also shared in the post and read: “It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning….time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
