‘Blooming genius’ mulching hack is perfect for gardeners with a bad back

Mulching the garden is made ‘so much easier’ with two expert hacks. The tips have left users astonished at the simplicity and efficiency of how it is done

Mulching your garden can seem like a daunting chore, but there’s a nifty trick to make the process far simpler. Applying mulch to your beds not only feeds plants, retains heat and inhibits weeds, it can also serve as an effective barrier to keep those pesky weeds from penetrating the soil surface by blocking out sunlight.

Although immensely beneficial for your greenery, spending all day hunched over distributing mulch can be back-breaking work. Plus, if done improperly, it could inadvertently damage your already flourishing plants. Revell Landscaping, a reputable firm from Washington State, USA, has come up with a clever solution to tackle such issues.

The landscaping experts shared two ingenious mulching tips on TikTok to significantly ease the task.

Their first piece of advice involves utilizing plastic pots to shield your growing plants. This technique prevents any harm to the foliage whilst you spread mulch around them, reports the Express.

The company claims this method not only protects the plants but also creates a basin to retain water. It further ensures the mulch is kept clear from the plant to avoid rotting.

The second tip advises using larger pots to scatter mulch throughout your plot. With your botanicals safely covered, there’s no need to worry about where the organic matter lands.

Simply distribute the mulch, ensuring the soil is adequately blanketed and even. Once finished, remove the protective pots, and voila.

The tips have left users astonished at the simplicity and efficiency of these hacks. “Wow.. so obvious and simple.

“That’s an awesome idea. Thank you so much,” exclaimed one commenter, marvelling at the brilliance of the hack.

Another penned: “The plant cover trick is so clever. I’m struggling though trying to mulch my bed with a lot of smaller sprouted plants.”

The firm recommended opting for tinier pots or a less dense layer of mulch.
