Bournemouth star David Brooks becomes dad for first time four years after beating cancer

By staff12 November 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

David Brooks previously feared that he’d never become a dad when he was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2021 but the Bournemouth star’s wife, Flora, has now given birth

Bournemouth winger David Brooks has become a dad for the first time after his wife, Flora, gave birth last month. Brooks, 28, revealed in June that he and Flora were expecting their first child.

The Wales international expressed how lucky he felt, having been diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma four years ago. Brooks returned to playing football in March 2023 and is a regular for Bournemouth, helping them re-establish themselves as Premier League mainstays and push for Europe.

Away from the pitch, Brooks and Flora are happily married, having tied the knot in North Yorkshire last summer. Now there’s a third member of the family: a baby girl.

Brooks shared a picture of Lottie Elizabeth via Instagram on Tuesday. “Our beautiful baby girl born 27/10/25 Lottie Elizabeth Brooks Special addition to our family @florabrooks_ Love you,” he wrote as the caption.

Earlier this year, Brooks admitted that he feared he’d never become a father, saying: “When I was diagnosed, I had those conversations and there was never any guarantees that I would be able to have children in the future.

“There was a chance that it wouldn’t have been possible. I was really lucky that it’s happened naturally. After the treatment, everything has gone back to normal. I’m really happy.

“I always wanted to start a family. My wife and I always wanted kids at some point. My situation took it out of my hands, so it’s very nice that everything has happened naturally and progressed into being a family.

“I’m really looking forward to it and I know my wife is, even though she’s the pregnant one and going through all that. I’m delighted – there were a few tears and now we’re really looking forward to it. We’re still a few months away – but I can’t wait.”

This season, Brooks has made 11 appearances for Bournemouth, providing one assist and captaining the team on numerous occasions. The Cherries enjoyed a superb start to the campaign but have only won two of their last seven matches.

Brooks’ focus is currently on helping Wales in their World Cup qualifying campaign. With two games remaining, there’s still a chance that they could finish first in Group J and qualify automatically.

A play-off spot is more likely, though, and if Craig Bellamy’s side beat Liechtenstein away on Saturday, their home game against North Macedonia on Tuesday would effectively be a straight shootout for second place and a play-off berth. Wales are also hoping that results in other groups go their way, especially Poland’s, so that they’d be a top seed when March’s play-offs roll around.
