Ashes star Mark Wood will have a precautionary scan after picking up an issue ahead of England’s series against Australia. The bowler has suffered some stiffness in his hamstring after bowling eight overs in England’s warm-up game against the Lions.
Wood is expected to quickly return to bowling- but was forced to spend time away from the field in Perth as England’s preparations got underway in earnest.
The ECB said: “Mark Wood is set to undergo a precautionary scan on Friday Nov 14, after suffering hamstring stiffness during Day 1 of England’s warm-up game against England Lions in Perth.
“The England fast bowler spent time off the field during the afternoon session, having completed eight overs with the ball. He is expected to bowl again in two days time.”
