‘Breathtaking’ beach with miles of pink sand and no one knows about it

The ‘most beautiful beach’ in Britain has to be walked to, and it’s worth every step, with nearly 1.5 miles of bright pink sand, surrounded by cliffs and clear blue waters

A breathtaking stretch of coastline stands as one of Britain’s most magnificent wild destinations for a seaside escape.

Boasting towering dunes, an expansive sweep of nearly 1.5 miles of rose-tinted sand framed by dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear azure waters – this untouched inlet is a vision that will leave you breathless with wonder.

Nestled in Scotland’s Northwest Highlands, visitors must be ready to trek several miles to reach the glorious Sandwood Bay, though the journey is absolutely worth every step.

With its awe-inspiring natural landscape, which Visit Scotland hails as the ‘most beautiful beach’, the panorama that greets you justifies the lengthy walk.

This ‘almost deserted’ paradise can be discovered by taking a rambling path from the tiny settlement of Blairmore, with no vehicle access available – which naturally adds to the location’s heavenly atmosphere, offering a true retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily existence, reports the Express.

The shoreline and its surroundings belong to the Sandwood Estate, managed by the John Muir Trust – a conservation organisation committed to protecting wild spaces.

The Visit Scotland website depicts this untamed coastal gem: “Reputedly the most beautiful beach in Britain, the wild and spectacular Sandwood Bay in Kinlochbervie is backed by huge sand dunes and a loch.

“Facing straight into the teeth of the North Atlantic, the beach has nearly 1.5 miles of wide pink sand which is flanked by cliffs.”

To the south, you’ll find the majestic sea stack of Am Buachaille, and just beyond the bay’s expansive dunes lies Sandwood Loch – a freshwater loch teeming with brown trout.

It’s widely regarded as one of the most pristine beaches on the entire British mainland.

This secluded bay is unreachable by road, but a 4 mile, well-trodden and relatively flat path from Blairmore’s gravel car park makes it accessible to those willing to trek.

Sandwood Bay has garnered heaps of praise on TripAdvisor for its untouched beauty and the dramatic scenes of the sea, whether tranquil or tempestuous.

Many beachgoers agree the four-mile walk is well worth the effort, with some even choosing to camp overnight on the beach’s golden-pink sands.

A TripAdvisor user said: “Been to Sandwood countless times now, and it never disappoints.”

They added: “Of course, summer sun brings out all the gorgeous colours but strong winds and raging seas show you nature in all her mighty power too.”

The same reviewer noted: “Guarded to the south by the impressive sea stack, Am Buachaille – the route is waymarked from Blairmore Car Park. Should be easy enough for walkers of all abilities.”

They continued: “The 4.5 mile walk to the beach passes moorland and lochans. Take in the sights, they’re wonderful. It’s a must for anyone visiting this part of Scotland.”

Another visitor shared their experience on TripAdvisor: “Me and my daughter wild camped for one night at Sandwood and it was an amazing experience!”.

“We parked at Blairmore carpark for free and hiked the four mile ish walk to the beach. I couldn’t believe how quiet and secluded it was, it’s an absolutely beautiful beach!”
