With gloriously mild temperatures and balmy summer weather arriving, countless sun-worshippers are flocking to the seaside to soak up the rays.

If you’re wondering which stretch of sand to visit, look no further – we’ve found the perfect spot for you.

Tucked away along the Northumberland coastline close to Berwick-upon-Tweed, Cheswick Sands near Cheswick provides holidaymakers with an enormous and peaceful shoreline.

This stunning beach boasts spectacular panoramas of the English coastline and extends all the way to the Scottish frontier. The idyllic and isolated shoreline guarantees a calm seaside retreat.

Featuring endless expanses of golden sand and magnificent rock pools, Cheswick Sands has been described as ‘relatively quiet’ by beachgoers, with one TripAdvisor reviewer saying: “To be fair we spent much longer on Cheswick beach just to the south – that involves large sand dunes that kids love playing on and white sands (at high tide, with the darker sands exposed at low tide).”, reports the Express.

“There are views one way to Berwick and beyond and the other to Lindisfarne Castle. It’s relatively quiet even on a nice day in the summer holidays.”

Considered one of the most extensive beaches along the Northumberland shoreline, Cheswick Sands features sweeping areas of softly undulating dunes and level whitish-golden sand decorated with dark basalt rock pools.

Offering sweeping views of Berwick-upon-Tweed and beyond, this relatively tranquil beach is a treat for any seaside enthusiast, boasting clear vistas of Holy Island and the historic Lindisfarne Castle to the south.

It’s also a hit with pet owners, providing ample space for scenic strolls along its pristine coastline.

Perfect for activities like surfing, kite surfing, and wind surfing, Cheswick Sands is just the ticket for leisurely walks and laid-back exploration. Those in search of peace will find themselves content on its sands, accompanied by a strikingly rugged coastline.

Seamlessly merging with Cocklawburn beach to the north, Cheswick Sands leisurely extends into the popular Northumberland beach. To the south, it blends into Goswick beach, resulting in a vast stretch of breathtaking views and a magnificent coastline spanning miles.

Tucked behind the beach are sand dunes of near white, powdery sand offering visitors some respite from the robust winds of the Northumberland coast.

Cheswick Sands features a small, free car park on the road leading to/from Cheswick village where visitors can park their vehicles at no charge, though be warned, it does tend to fill up quickly on a warm day. Additionally, some roadside parking is also available.

Cheswick Sands is not manned by lifeguards or any other safety personnel, hence visitors are urged to be careful while swimming or surfing. The beach also lacks facilities such as toilets or shops, so it’s recommended that you bring along all the necessary supplies and gear before your visit.
