Brigitte Bardot forced to deny rumours she’s died in fiery statement after health woes

By staff23 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Hollywood icon Brigitte Bardot was faced with false rumours she had died earlier this week but, she is very much alive, and took to X to brand those starting rumours of her death as ‘fools’

Iconic french actress Brigitte Bardot has broken her silence after false rumours claimed she had died. The 91-year-old shared a statement to social media, where she insisted any speculation about her death was “fake news” shared by a “fool”.

Earlier this month, Brigitte was rushed to hospital with a “serious illness” and required surgery. However, around the same time, influencer Aniss Zitouni, better known as Aqababe, took to social media to say the actress had died.

In posts on multiple platforms, the influencer wrote: “According to my exclusive information, Brigitte Bardot died today. Her coffin was ordered in Saint-Paul-de-Jarrat in the 09 (Ariège) department. An icon has passed away, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy and an eternal imprint on the hearts of the French.”

But Brigitte herself has not only confirmed she is still alive but hopped on X to promise she has “no intention” of bowing out anytime soon and branded the rumours “fake news”.

“I don’t know which fool launched this fake news tonight about my disappearance, but rest assured that I’m doing well and have no intention of taking my leave,” she wrote.

After her surgery, Brigitte spent three weeks in a private hospital in Toulon before she returned to her home in Saint-Tropez. A spokesperson for the actress told press that she is “resting” and doing “fine”. The illness that forced her to have surgery has not been shared.

In July 2023, the iconic actress was reported to be suffering respiratory problems, and was attended to by medics at her home on the French Riviera. At the time, her husband, Bernard d’Ormale, said she suffered a “respiratory distraction” and could “no longer bear the heat”. But after receiving oxygen from the medics, she seemed to improve.

Born in Paris in 1937, Brigitte is one of the most iconic actresses of the 1950s and 1960s, but is now rarely seen in public. She initially trained as a ballet dancer and had already established herself as a model by appearing on the front cover of Elle when she was 15.

She went on to be known across the world for her performances in films such as And Got Created Woman and Viva Maria!, but retired from acting in 1973 to focus on being an animal rights activist.

By the time she retired, Brigitte had starred in 47 films, recorded 60 songs and been in several musicals. She has received numerous awards for both her work in entertainment and in animal rights.

Talking about her childhood dreams, Brigitte once said: “I knew I had to be the best at something, otherwise I would be nothing. I knew I wanted the world to know about Brigitte Bardot.”
