Lily Nichol is fighting for her life in Turkey after a paraglider crashed into her as she ate lunch with her family during a holiday in Turkey as he came into land
A desperate mother thought her teenage daughter was dead when a landing paraglider crashed into her during a family meal on holiday in Turkey.
Lily Nichol, 15, is fighting for her life in hospital after the bizarre accident, which happened on the last day of the family’s break. The youngster suffered severe injuries in the accident, including a bleed on her brain, broken jaw and a possible broken back. She is set to undergo more operations today.
Her mother, Lyndsey, has launched a gofundme for the family, who went abroad without travel insurance and now face hospital bills of thousands of pounds. So far, around 400 people have raised more than £5,000.
Lyndsey wrote: “I’m in desperate need of help. I’m on a family holiday today with my two daughters, we were meant to fly home back to Newcastle today. We decided to go out for a nice last meal during which my 15 year old daughter has been in a really bad accident by a man paragliding.
“He’s landed on her while we were sat at our table. She is in intensive care with a broken jaw broken ribs, bleed on brain and possibly a broken back.
“Stupid me forgot to take out holiday insurance. So far the hospital bill is £7,000, that’s only for today’s treatment. She needs an operation on her jaw which is more money.
“Me and my daughter are having to pay for hotels, taxis to and from hospital. Please even £1, I’m a desperate mam. I cant loose my little girl she had a stroke & was unconscious during this trauma my baby girl is in a bad way. I just want to get her home.”
She added to the Sun: “She said: “I thought she was dead, I thought she was dead, I was screaming I was like where’s the ambulance and I was like ‘Lily keep talking to us, keep talking to us’.
“I just remember Lily eating, biting into a slice of pizza and this paraglider just came from nowhere and just totally wiped her out over the table.
“She face-planted the table and we tried to get her up. Obviously she was unconscious and she had a stroke while she was down. I thought she was dead.”
