Earlier this year a British tourist who fell after losing his balance while climbing on a balcony in Zante died of his injuries. An investigation by the Zakynthos Police Department was launched after a 23-year-old man stepped on to the handrail as he tried to get off a balcony.
He then lost his balance and fell around four feet headfirst. Local reports suggested he twice attempted to stand but fell over. He was rushed to hospital where he later died, according to local publication, Parapoloitika.
Hours earlier, another British man also fell from a balcony in the Greek town from the first floor. He suffered serious injuries and was also rushed to the Zakynthos hospital.
