Amanda Holden was left red-faced during her Heart Breakfast show on Thursday after she made a peculiar attempt at pronouncing the word ‘trounced’ – but she’s now addressed the awkward blunder
Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden had a bit of a language slip-up on her Heart Breakfast show, which she co-hosts with Jamie Theakston. On the Thursday broadcast, Amanda tried to say “trounced” but ended up giving the word an Aussie twist, leaving fans questioning her pronunciation skills.
Jamie didn’t let the moment pass, revealing the next morning, “we have had a couple of messages” from listeners about Amanda’s mispronunciation. Owning the gaffe with her trademark humour, Amanda assured everyone, including her laughing co-hosts: “I knew what I meant. I’ve got an A-level in English believe it or not.”
It hadn’t been long since Jamie made a comeback to the radio after his stage one Laryngeal cancer diagnosis, during which Amanda had partnered up with Jason King for the duration of Jamie’s five-month break.
Returning to TV, audiences were able to catch Amanda this past Saturday for the premiere of Britain’s Got Talent’s new series on ITV, where she’s judging alongside Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and the newest addition, Bruno Tonioli – continuing her role that started with the show’s inception in 2007.
In addition to her judging role on Britain’s Got Talent and co-hosting duties on her Heart Breakfast show, Amanda has become a familiar face over the years, with guest presenting stints on several ITV shows including Lorraine and This Morning.
More recently, she teamed up with comedian Alan Carr for their show Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job, where they endeavour to rejuvenate dilapidated properties in Italy, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The famous pair returned to our screens last month as they showcased their renovation prowess in Spain.
Britain’s Got Talent meanwhile is set to air on ITV at 7pm tonight (March 1).
