Brits beg for retro Nestle sweet to return after it was only axed in 2023

By staff8 June 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

A beloved and iconic British sweet-but-fruity treat is in the hopes of making a comeback after three in five correspondents were missing it on the supermarket shelves.

In a survey conducted by Betway Insider, it got revealed that the number one sweet Brits were missing the most were the Polo Fruits. Have you ever had one of those?

Polo Fruits hold a special place in many of our hearts, and if you have been living under a rock and have no clue what they are, they are fruit-flavoured, boiled sweets with a hole in the middle, resembling the famous Polo Mints.

After surveying a total of 2,000 Brits, it was found that three in five correspondents were reminiscing on the Polo Fruits – with 59% agreeing that it should make a comeback. After two years out of the shelves, shoppers are now hoping that Polo Fruits will be making a return on the sweet aisle.

Although Polo Fruits didn’t have the same demand as the Polo Mints, they were still a go-to among customers who preferred the fruity flavours over the minty ones. Their popularity went beyond its UK market, as according to British Corner Shop, they were available to purchase in the US, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Chile, and Canada.

Coming in different flavours, including strawberry, lemon, blackcurrant, orange, and line. Sadly, these delicious sweets were discontinued in 2023 after 70 years in the market. Naturally, fans were devastated as soon as the news dropped.

The reason why Polo Fruits – as well as Polo Gummies – got discontinued and removed from the shelves was mainly because they weren’t as popular as other Nestlé products, leading to sales dropping. Nonetheless, shoppers can still get their hands on them on various online stores, such as SPAR.

Other popular treats that got discontinued throughout the years include Tooty Frooties, Cadbury’s Flake Snow, Sprangles, Rowntree’s Drifter bar, Fry’s Five Centers, Smarties Mini Chocolate Cakes, Mars Delight, Cadbury’s Snaps, and Jacob’s trio biscuits.

The survey also spotted that Polo Fruits are more popular amongst those 35 and above, as they demanded these to be brought back, compared to those between the ages of 25-34, who preferred Cadbury’s Flake Snow to return.

So, if you’re missing the Polo Fruits and are craving the sweetness from the good old days, you might still be able to get your hands on them from third parties. Alternatively, if you’d like to try something different (and similar), Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles have been compared to Polo Fruits, and they also come in various flavours.
