Easter is approaching, meaning that our favourite retailers will be stacking up their shelves with chocolate treats. Cadbury has taken a major step, changing their packaging to be more environmentally friendly
Cadbury is no stranger to making headlines, whether it’s for launching new products, collaborating with other brands, or facing criticism over “shrinkflation.” One thing is certain, Cadbury never fails to capture public attention and their chocolate is delicious.
With growing concerns about sustainability and excessive plastic waste, Cadbury is taking steps towards more environmentally friendly packaging. This year, the Cadbury Easter Favourites Pouch is getting a sustainable upgrade. Unlike many other products that still rely heavily on plastic, the outer packaging of this festive treat will now be made from paper, which can be “easily recycled at home.”
In the UK, plastic is primarily used for consumer packaging, particularly for food and drinks. This leads to billions of plastic pieces being thrown away each year, severely affecting the environment. While recycling rates have increased throughout the years, there are still many big brands yet to take action.
Cadbury isn’t the only brand embracing paper packaging, as Nestlé has also taken similar actions with their most-popular product, Smarties, now being plastic-free in a bid to reduce waste.
The 335g pouch has been designed for sharing and Easter egg hunts, making it a perfect addition to the springtime festivities as we also welcome the warmer weather.
As per its description, the bag includes a selection of popular treats such as Mini Cadbury Dairy Milk Eggs, treat-size bags of Cadbury Mini Eggs, and Cadbury Creme Eggs. It’s a mix that caters to both nostalgic fans of the brand and those looking to indulge in seasonal favourites.
Charlotte Parkes, Cadbury Easter’s Senior Brand Manager, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, telling The Grocer: “We’re excited to be bringing retailers and shoppers our brand-new Easter Favourites Pouch and our expanded range of shell eggs across a variety of brands this Easter, with something to suit all tastes and occasions.”
Despite the recommended retail price (RRP) being £7.45, individual retailers can set their own pricing. In major supermarkets such as Tesco and Ocado, the pouch is currently available for £6.00 and £5.25, respectively.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s is selling it for £6.50, making it the most expensive in the market. However, prices are subject to change and may drop further as Easter approaches, particularly with seasonal promotions and discounts becoming more common closer to the holiday.
But there’s more to offer, other 2025 Cadbury Easter products include the Cadbury Dairy Milk & White Half & Half Ultimate Egg, Cadbury Dairy Milk Hollow Bunny, and Toblerone Edgy Egg.
Although Easter Sunday falls on 20th April this year, retailers are already on the early promotions to encourage shoppers to plan ahead. This strategic move not only helps consumers secure their favourite chocolate treats before stocks run low but also ensures that Cadbury remains a key player in the competitive Easter confectionery market.
