A day out at the famed Cadbury World is like visiting the real-life Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Through its various chocolatey zones, it showcases the magic behind the world-famous brand and has welcomed more than 18 million visitors, including members of the Royal Family and A-listers, since it opened in 1990.
This month marks the 35th anniversary of the popular Bournville attraction that has become a staple in British history. Many of us will recall fond memories spent at Cadbury World, from watching the chocolatiers at work, collecting our favourite Cadbury bars during a tour, to riding the Crunchie rollercoaster before perfecting our piping skills!
Over the years, Cadbury World has only expanded, offering more experiences and attractions for every visitor, no matter how old or young, as they uphold the value, “Cadbury means chocolate means fun”. Behind the scenes of the magic was Gerrard Baldwin, who worked at Cadbury World since its opening day at the age of 16 and subsequently became the General Manager for 22 years, before retiring earlier this year.
And it appears that working there really was as “fascinating” as you could imagine. Gerrard, who is one of the longest-serving Cadbury World employees, speaks exclusively to the Mirror about his 35 years at the attraction as we reflect on photos over the years…
