Caitlyn Jenner is said to be ‘devastated’ following the sudden death of her manager and close friend Sophia Hutchins, who died in an all-terrain vehicle accident
Caitlyn Jenner is reportedly ‘numb with shock’ over the tragic death of her confidante and manager, Sophia Hutchins, at just 29. Sophia tragically collided with a car while enjoying an all-terrain vehicle ride near Caitlyn’s Malibu mansion last week and subsequently tumbled into a ravine.
A heartbroken acquaintance disclosed to RadarOnline.com: “Caitlyn is numb with shock. She is absolutely devastated and can’t believe what’s happened. Sophia was a big part of her life.”
TMZ earlier revealed that despite a swift response from emergency services, Sophia was pronounced deceased on site. The terrible incident did not result in other casualties.
Taking the reins of Caitlyn’s professional affairs post her split from Kris Jenner in 2017, Sophia became a pivotal figure, even featuring on Caitlyn’s docuseries ‘I am Cait’ and sharing residence with her at the Malibu domicile.
In a candid New York Times piece from 2019, she explained thrusting herself into managing duties to shield a vulnerable Caitlyn from exploitation, stating: “I saw nobody was managing her, and there were all these people taking massive advantage.
“And I was saying: ‘Caitlyn, if I don’t step in here and start managing you, you’re going to go broke’.”
She clarified their bond further by asserting: “Caitlyn is a parent to me. I have said that a million times. It is a parental, familial relationship.”
Hutchins, also a transgender woman, initially established a connection with Jenner soon after the Olympic legend publicly revealed her identity in 2015.
She frequently referred to Jenner as a beacon of hope throughout her own gender transition whilst studying at Pepperdine University. This connection deepened over the years into both a personal and working partnership.
In 2017, Hutchins relocated to Jenner’s £2.8 million Malibu residence and subsequently assumed control of Jenner’s professional affairs, replacing Jenner’s former spouse Kris Jenner in that capacity.
In a previous conversation with The New York Times, Hutchins dispelled rumours regarding their association, declaring unambiguously, “We were never romantically involved.”
Despite relentless media attention, the pair sustained a solid friendship and professional collaboration.
Hutchins frequently featured on Jenner’s E! reality series I Am Cait, a spin-off from Keeping Up With the Kardashians that documented Jenner’s gender transition journey. Whilst the programme ran for just two seasons, it provided audiences with an insight into their everyday experiences together.
Hutchins was most recently spotted alongside Jenner in April 2024, accompanying her to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D. C. A politically engaged and vocal figure, Hutchins was a passionate advocate for President Donald Trump and the MAGA campaign.
