Carl Froch is mulling over a challenge from Darren Till to take on the former UFC star in the boxing ring despite having retired from the sport 11 years ago after defeat George Groves
A potential bout with Darren Till has got Carl Froch thinking, after the ex-UFC star called out the former world boxing champion in an explicit tirade following his latest Misfits win.
Till defeated fellow MMA alumni Luke Rockhold in decisive fashion via a brutal knockout in Liverpool. The Gorilla needed just three rounds to dispatch his opponent and quickly tried to set up his next fight.
“Where the f*** is Carl Froch? The little s*** house. Come on. Get in this f****** ring,” he demanded. “You have got so much to say on your little YouTube channel with 10,000 viewers, get in this f****** ring you little s*** house. He has f***** off. He is not about that life. Mind you, he is 50, so I might not call him out then!”
Froch was in attendance for the event, but anticipated Till’s actions and departed to avoid any chance of a scuffle in the ring. The Cobra’s interest appears to have been piqued by the prospect however.
The 48-year-old accepted he had ‘no intention’ to fight but said he would be ‘stupid’ not to give the bout some thought after talking about the potential of facing the Scouse fighter.

Speaking on his YouTube channel in the aftermath, Froch said: “Darren Till ironed his opponent out. It was quite a bad knockout, I think the fight could have been stopped earlier.
“And then Darren Till went off on one, he looked over the top rope, I knew something was coming. Darren Till, top rope, shouting ‘where’s Froch the s********?’. Come on. It’s not what you call the Cobra, four-time world champ, hall of famer who goes in with absolutely anybody. You don’t really call me a s******** do you? As you know, the resume speaks for itself, I don’t need to justify myself, you know where I’ve been, you know what I’ve done.
“But can this fight with Darren Till happen? Can it make any sense? Do I want it to happen? Realistically, probably not. Listen, I retired 11 years ago. When I retired, when I was almost 37, I’d just rendered George Groves unconscious in front of 80,000 at Wembley Stadium. I was offered a lot of money. I was offered a lot of money to fight Chavez Jr, I was offered money to fight Gennady Golovkin. The desire was gone. When the desire is gone, you’re not going to jump in a boxing ring because it’s the pain game, the hurt game, you can get seriously injured.
“So, I was like ‘listen I’ve done what I needed to do in the game’. So I retired 11 years ago and I’m emphasising 11 years again because why would I fight? Why would I bother? Well, easy money. The old bunsen burner.
“I’m thinking to myself they’re giving money away with these fights. Because Darren Till is absolutely f****** useless. I’m not being funny, I’m talking about professional boxing level. At the level he’s at, he’s done alright, he’s got decent balance, throws a decent backhand from the southpaw stance. Let’s be honest, this would be a mismatch.
“Even at 48 years old, retired 11 years, it’s a mismatch. But is there any money in it? Is there any cash? I don’t know, maybe. Maybe someone sat to my right could answer that.”
Froch went on to engage with a DAZN employee who suggested the retired boxer. would be in the mix if he was interested in the challenge.
“Maybe we will sit down and have a chat,” Froch later added. “Maybe I’ll up it from level four to level five out of 10 in the gym, see how I feel. Throw a few punches in the sparring ring, get the face mask on, protect the hooter and see how I feel. It’s got me thinking.”
