Derbyshire Constabulary issued the new footage as investigators seek to identify the driver of a 4×4 that struck a bike on a road in Pleasley, Derbyshire, and killed a 25-year-old

Police seeking the driver of a Land Rover that knocked down and killed a mum as she rode on an e-bike down a quiet country lane have issued new CCTV footage showing someone they believe has information “vital” for their investigation.

Alana Armstrong, 25, was killed after a 4×4 allegedly followed her and a companion as they rode e-bikes down a road in Pleasley, Derbyshire, on November 26. Police said the car, believed to be a Land Rover Discovery manufactured between 2004 and 2009, had trailed the two before “ramming” one of the bikes.

Ms Armstrong was riding as a pillion passenger on the bike at the time, and the mum was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services raced to help. The rider, a man in his 20s, was hospitalised with serious injuries. Derbyshire Constabulary investigators have now released new CCTV footage identifying someone with whom they would like to speak.

The grainy footage released by the service shows a woman with her hair tied in a ponytail wearing a grey tracksuit standing in a road. The stills captured the woman as she walked outside the White Swan pub in the town centre, with police saying she was of average height and build. Police believe she has “vital information” relating to the killing.

The new footage was released as detectives work “non-stop” to track down the driver involved in the smash, with Investigation lead DCI Claudia Musson saying her team has identified “significant lines of enquiry”. She said: “This is an understandably shocking incident that has left a family grieving the loss of a young woman.

“A team of detectives have been working non-stop since the incident took place and have generated significant lines of enquiry. We are, however, wanting to hear from anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to help us bring those responsible to justice.”

“Of particular interest is anyone with information about a dark-coloured Land Rover Discovery, it may be that you saw it in the area around the time of the incident – or you have seen a vehicle matching this description that may have sustained damage or been recently repaired.”

Anyone who believes they have information relating to the case, or who may have seen the woman seen in the CCTV image has been asked to contact the force via the non-emergency number 101. Those contacting the service must contact the reference number 24*705090.

People with relevant information can also use a reporting form supplied by the service on its website, or even contact Derbyshire Constabulary via social media. Those who would prefer to submit information anonymously can do so via the CrimeStoppers independent charity on 0800 555 111.
