Charlotte Church’s chunky knit green cardigan that she wore during Celebrity Traitors has sparked a fun new ‘wearable bedding trend’ that’ll keep you warm during autumn
During last night’s episode of Celebrity Traitors, Charlotte Church was spotted keeping cosy in the Highlands in the perfect chunky green knit. Her cosy cardigan hails from independent brand Hope Macaulay, which handmakes each piece in Northern Ireland.
It has become a favourite amongst celebs like Billie Piper, Gigi Hadid and Jennifer Hudson – even Charlotte’s fellow faithful in the Traitors castle Tom Daley has been seen in one. The thick knit cardi is one of Hope’s most iconic designs, the Zola Colossal Knit Cardigan (£380) and comes in sizes six to 18. Each one is hand-knitted by one of the brand’s local knitters in Northern Ireland, and even comes with a label stating the knitter’s name who created it.

If you’ve ever been getting ready to head out in the cold but wished you could stay cosy under your favourite blanket instead, then this cardigan is for you. It’s the ultimate “wearable bedding” style – and much more chic than a typical hooded blanket – and we’re absolutely convinced that it’s a trend that’s going to catch on.
It features the same ultra-thick wool and weave pattern as the chunky knit throws you can get for your bed or sofa, like this Living and Home 100x120cm Chunky Knit Blanket (£21.50 down from £36) or the Dazzluxe 200x200cm Chunky Knit Blanket Throw (£104). This is the next step up from comfy co-ords that look like pyjamas but could still be worn to the office, and adjacent to duvet-style quilted coats. Because let’s face it; who doesn’t want to basically be in bed at all times?
Hope Macaulay’s colossal knits are almost impossible to replicate, so you’ll rarely find an affordable lookalike anywhere. ASOS does stock the Bailey Rose Open Knit Bright Green Stripe Cardigan (£29.50, was £56) which is just as bright and colourful with a similar weave, but in a smaller, more understated knit style.
You could also shop the NastyGal Extreme Stripe Loopy Cardigan (£57, was £95) which has a chunky weave and large balloon sleeves with a loop design to bring some movement and fringe-style finish. It also comes in a bold pink and red colour that brings some colour and joy to a dreary autumn day.
