Chef says soup tastes so much better when 69p kitchen staple is added

A chef has shared the secret ingredient to make any soup taste so much better, and it doesn’t cost any extra money – in fact, it’s probably sitting in your kitchen cupboard

There’s nothing more filling than a warm soup on a rainy or cold day. But have you ever felt like your soup was missing an extra ingredient, or that it tasted quite bland? Don’t worry, adding one secret ingredient can make it taste so much better, but make sure that this is done before serving.

Soups are not hard to make, and many of them are quite simple and easy to prepare, only needing a few ingredients. However, when it comes to cooking, they can become quite bland in taste.

Since soups contain a lot of liquid, they’re good to keep you hydrated. It provides a lot of health benefits, such as improved digestion. Soups are also an easy meal option, and quite comforting!

A common mistake many people make is not knowing the best time to add salt to a soup, and sometimes, it ends up becoming too salty. As shared in Rebecca Katz Kitchen’s blog, it’s all about “taste, discover, and build the flavour throughout the cooking process.”

She explained: “Salt brings out the flavour of food and moves the flavour to the front of the tongue where taste is best perceived. If the flavour is hanging back, then you need a pitch or two of salt to move it to the front.”

Have you ever added extra salt to your food when you thought it was lacking taste? Using salt contributes to the overall flavour and texture. It’s one of the most important ingredients, and although it’s not necessarily used in every dish, it can enhance the flavour.

When it comes to cooking, every recipe is a learning experience, meaning that it won’t turn out perfectly from the very beginning. You will keep adding ingredients until you finally get that perfect taste. Practise makes perfect, so don’t be afraid to keep adding until you’re satisfied.

Soups are also very healthy and can be enjoyed as a first course or a side dish. They’re also quite filling, which is good for those looking to reduce their calorie intake. Nonetheless, it’s important to consume these in moderation.

By adding a pinch or two of salt, the taste of the soup will be so much better. You don’t need to be an expert in the kitchen, as it all depends on your taste buds and preferences. Salt is also a kitchen staple, and it’s most likely in your kitchen cupboard, so you won’t spend any extra money for it.
