Chelsea agree Nicolas Jackson exit to European giants for eye-watering loan fee

By staff30 August 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Chelsea have agreed a deal to offload Nicolas Jackson, who fell down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge after the Blues signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro for a combined sum of £90million

Nicolas Jackson is finalising an initial loan switch to Bayern Munich after the German champions finally struck a deal with Chelsea. Bayern will pay a monstrous £12.9million loan fee and will also have a £56.2m option to sign the Senegal international attacker permanently next summer.

Should that be triggered, Chelsea have also negotiated a sell-on clause. All parties decided it was best for Jackson to move following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap as Enzo Maresca could not provide him with assurances of minutes.

Chelsea had been keen to hang fire in case Newcastle entered the fray in their search to replace Alexander Isak but time was of the essence and Jackson was keen to move to Bavaria. Jackson hit 24 Premier League goals across his two seasons at Stamford Bridge after signing from Villarreal for £30m in 2023.

In Munich, Jackson will provide competition for Harry Kane, who scored his 89th and 90th goals for Bayern during Wednesday’s dramatic cup win over third-tier opponents Wehen Wiesbaden. Bayern manager Vincent Kompany first showed interest in signing the Senegalese striker when he was in charge of Belgian giants Anderlecht.

Kompany’s side turned to Jackson after missing out on signing Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade, who’s set to join Newcastle. Bayern recently brought in Liverpool winger Luis Diaz for £65.5m.

On Friday, Kompany bemoaned the financial might of the Premier League in light of Woltemade’s imminent move to Newcastle. Bayern previously lost the race for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, who paid a British-record £116m to blow the Bundesliga heavyweights out of the water.

When asked why German stars such as Woltemade and Wirtz are moving to the Premier League instead of joining Bayern like in recent years, Kompany replied: “Money.”

The Manchester City legend added: That’s just a financial reality. Now when you have that £100m and you come into the Premier League it means nothing because everybody else has got even more.

Will Nicolas Jackson prove his doubters wrong at Bayern Munich? Give us your prediction in the comments section.

“It’s just the nature of what they’ve been able to develop there over many years, especially with the TV money and how they’ve promoted the league internationally. I don’t think it’s a debate for just Bayern Munich, I think it’s a debate for the Bundesliga to find a way to remain competitive.

“The positive is that all the players that are going to the Premier League… it’s not like they’ve had five or six years of being top players in the Bundesliga. They did one or two years and then they went so it means that we’re going to have more players coming through this year and they will be the new superstars. I don’t think there will be a lack of quality.”
