Chelsea star fires risky warning shot at PSG ahead of Club World Cup final

Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain remain the team to beat at the Club World Cup with a £97million jackpot up for grabs – but Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is confident the Blues can upset the odds

Levi Colwill has insisted he is not scared of Paris Saint Germain – and warned they should be frightened of Chelsea.

Colwill delivered a rabble-rousing speech as he said Chelsea can upset PSG and cause a major shock in the Club World Cup final in the MetLife Stadium. PSG are the reigning European champions and they have already destroyed Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and then Real Madrid in the semi final and are now eyeing the £97m jackpot for lifting the trophy on Sunday.

Chelsea defender Colwill said: “It’s just one game of football and when you play for Chelsea you’re not scared to play against anyone and that’s how we all feel. Most people around the world would expect PSG to win but we don’t think that.

“I remember the first time in this tournament when I said that we’re winners – and we’ve made it this far. That shows I’m not lying. The players have got a really top mentality and we’re really excited going into this final.

“They are an amazing team – but we are not Inter or Real Madrid. We’re going to bring something different. We’re different players. We’re confident in ourselves to win the game.

“Real Madrid are very different to us. They don’t press like us or play like us. They can’t expect us to give them the same game. We’re going to bring different things. I believe in us and I think we can beat anyone so we’re going to take that confidence going into the game. It’s just being Chelsea. It’s where we belong and now it’s all about proving it day in and day out.

“We’ve still played amazing teams. Of course, we know they’re a really good team but we believe in ourselves to try to win the game and hopefully we will.”
