Chelsea are looking to ship out several fringe players before the January transfer window slams shut, meaning Enzo Maresca’s side are set for a busy next few days
Chelsea are set for a busy end to the January transfer window, with several potential incomings and outgoings on the cards.
Enzo Maresca’s side currently sit sixth in the Premier League, just one point off the top four, and they are also still competing in the FA Cup and the UEFA Conference League. There has been little movement in the January window so far, despite the Blues wanting to ship out a number of fringe players.
Renato Veiga has joined Juventus on loan for the remainder of the campaign, while youngsters Zain Silcott-Duberry and Kai Crampton have completed permanent moves to Bournemouth. With all that in mind, Mirror Football takes a look at the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the club.
Villa in Disasi talks
Aston Villa are in talks with Chelsea over a loan move for Axel Disasi, with Unai Emery keen to bring in defensive reinforcements following the sale of Diego Carlos to Fenerbahce.
Disasi has made just four league starts so far this season and is understood to prefer a move to Villa, despite interest from clubs in Italy and other Premier League teams like Wolves. Personal terms are a formality, but a loan fee and salary coverage remains under discussion.
Disasi joined Chelsea from Monaco back in 2023 for £38.5million and he ended up scoring on his debut as the Blues drew 1-1 with Liverpool. The 26-year-old signed a long-term deal and is under contract until 2029.
Felix interest
Villa have also rekindled their interest in Joao Felix, who they attempted to sign last summer before he made the move to Chelsea.
However, Felix has struggled for game time under Maresca and the Sun are now reporting that Villa are eyeing a move for the former Atletico Madrid star. The report states that they could ‘reignite their interest’ before the January window slams shut.
However, it remains to be seen whether the deal would be permanent or a loan as that is contingent on whether Villa can seal a deal for Disasi.
Liverpool battle
Slavia Prague chief Jaroslav Tvrdik says Chelsea and Liverpool are among the clubs interested in wing-back El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Tvrdik told media outlet Kudy Bezi Zajic : “If Liverpool and Chelsea, who were also interested in him, had come with an offer of around 17-18 million euros, I would have hesitated to approach it differently from the perspective of promoting the club or the player’s interest.
“If Chelsea comes, we wouldn’t keep anyone. Nothing will change, it’s just not possible objectively. One has to admit that the Czech league and Slavia have some limits. Even PSG, when it comes to breaking the bank, won’t keep their player and he’ll go to Real. We’re part of a football chain and we’re not at the top of it.”
