Chloe Grace Moretz has secretly married Kate Harrison and explained why she chose to go for a different kind of wedding dress than the traditional white gown
Chloe Grace Moretz has secretly married Kate Harrison. The actress, 28, announced her engagement to Kate in January after nearly seven years together and they tied the knot over Labor Day weekend but did not make it known until after the nuptials had taken place.
The former Desperate Housewives star explained shortly before she and Kate said their vows that they had wanted to make their big day as personal as possible, and explained to Vogue: “A big part of the wedding [is about] sharing things that Kate and I love with everyone that’s going to be there. So there’s fishing, horseback riding, and poker. Kate made a custom poker mat herself, so we’re going to kind of be leaning into it. Our second day is going to be line dancing and everything.”
But Chloe chose not to go for the traditional colour of white for her gown, and instead opted for a blue. She explained to the outlet that this was all inspired by a number she had worn previously on the red carpet.
She said: “I love that it feels very Old Hollywood, and of course the color—the birth of the color [blue] started when I went to the Academy Gala with LV, and I wore this blue leather dress. I remember immediately talking to [my stylist] Nell, and I was like, maybe we should think about doing this [colour for my wedding]!”
Both brides went with Louis Vuitton for their outfits for the big day, and Chloe admitted that she always knew she ‘would do something non-traditional, and not wear white’ because she wanted to feel ‘different’ for the romantic occasion. The actress, who has become known for her roles in the horror genre since her days as a child star, hinted on New Year’s Day that a wedding was on the cards for her and her significant other.
Just after celebrating New Year’s Eve, thestar showed off some of her best memories of 2024 and captioned the post: “Happiest New Year. So thankful for what this year has brought. The people, the places, our families, our health, our love. Wishing all of you a peaceful start to this new year.”
After dropping the bombshell in a very low-key way, Chloë was met with a flood of comments congratulating her on the milestone. Under the post, one person wrote: “Cutest couple everrrr, congratulations on the engagement!! [red heart emojis].” And another added: “oh my god congratulations for your engagement ??? and happy new year.”
And a third replied: “Happy New Year and congratulations! I’m so happy for you guys! Such a great way to begin the new year!”
Chloë and Kate have been romantically tied for the past six years after sparking romance rumors after they were seen locking lips in December of 2018 and later having dinner at Nobu Malibu together. The pair became Instagram official much later when Kate wished Chloë a happy Valentine’s Day and posted a sweet snap. Before dating Kate, Chloe was in an on-and-off relationship with Brooklyn Beckham from 2014 to 2018.
Despite landing roles in a number of movies and television shows in recent years, Chloë has kept their relationship largely out of the public eye.
Chloë once mentioned her love life in an interview with The i Paper in 2022, but even then, she was very sparing with the details.
At the time, she told the news outlet: “I like to keep my private life private,” and later confessed: “I’m in a long-term relationship. And I really enjoy that.”
