Love Island star Chris Hughes has opened up about the start of his romance with singer JoJo Siwa – confirming a huge fan theory about the Celebrity Big Brother star couple
Chris Hughes has revealed the moment he declared his love for JoJo Siwa – confirming a theory that fans of the couple hatched months ago. The 32-year-old former Love Island contestant and the 22-year-old American singer first met each other on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year.
The pair were among 13 stars that entered the famous house on the ITV show back in April, both lasting 19 days inside and making it all the way to the final. While neither Chris nor JoJo won the series, they did win each other’s hearts after meeting on the long-running reality series.
Viewers were confused when they saw the pair growing close while in the house, as JoJo was in a relationship with Australian actor and content creator Kath Ebbs, 28. However, the pair insisted their friendship was only ever platonic while they were in the house.

Nevertheless, JoJo ditched Kath seemingly within minutes of leaving the Big Brother house following the live final – leaving fans convinced she was ready to strike up a romance with Chris.
When Chris and JoJo were spotted holidaying in Mexico together days later, fans became convinced that the romance had begun. And now Chris has confirmed that this is when their relationship blossomed. Opening up to Harry Corrin on the Question The Default podcast, Chris insisted that: “Nothing was rushed or forced, it just happened.”
He explained that he jetted to Mexico in order to surprise his Celebrity Big Brother co-star – and that she was there with her family, whom he also met and charmed.
Chris said: “I flew out to surprise her, which was nice. I spent a few days with her and her family in Orlando as well before flying home, and that’s where it all started.”
He then revealed: “I went to Mexico and met up with her, which is where the whole feelings developed and things changed. Which was lovely and no secret to anybody.
“But it was genuinely lovely and nothing was rushed or forced, it just happened.” Six months have passed since Chris and JoJo first met and the pair have suggested they have wedding plans on their mind. American star JoJo has opened up about her hope to walk down the aisle.
She previously told The Sun: “A wedding is a two-person thing. So we would have to decide what it looks like. But I do know that I want it to have a baby-blue scheme, and I need to help Chris make the playlist.
“Otherwise, it’ll be all songs I don’t know! He likes to educate me on music. He loves The 1975 and all these boy bands, but I don’t know any of the,m as they are British. Give me some NSYNC or Backstreet Boys!”
She added: “At the end of the day, we have a very public life, but we are still two humans who love each other very much.”
