Christine McGuinness is said to be ‘anxious’ that Paddy only put their mansion up at such a high price to ‘keep her living with him for longer’ despite her ‘desperation’ to move out
Christine McGuinness is reportedly enraged with her ex after he put their mansion up for sale. Paddy McGuinness opted to push the price up by millions, and Christine is said to think he has ulterior motives.
Christine, 37, and comedian Paddy, 51, announced they had made the “difficult decision” to part ways in July 2022 after 11 years together. The former couple shares three children – twins Leo and Penelope, 11, and daughter Felicity, eight.
Despite splitting, however, they currently still live together in their mega mansion in Cheshire. Christine has now reportedly had enough of living with her ex, who put the mansion up for sale for an eye-watering £6.5 million price tag.
While Paddy went ahead with listing the property, insiders claim that Christine thinks he purposefully put it up at such a high price so that it wouldn’t sell, after they bought it for far less – £2.1 million – just a few years ago in 2020.
“It is so overpriced, Paddy doesn’t want to sell which seems like another tactic by him,” a source told the Daily Mail, adding that it was “insane” he’d list it for more than triple the price.
“The house is on for two thirds more than what they paid for it, it will never sell. It all feels a bit like Paddy wanting to control the situation and keep Christine living in the house with him for longer,” they added.
The source added that due to the high price Christine would have to keep living with Paddy “for a long time yet” despite making it clear she’d rather they go their separate ways.
Another insider added that “Christine has been living through a nightmare” and that things have taken a “bad” turn in their relationship, but “Paddy doesn’t like Christine discussing their business with anyone.”
The source shared: “She hoped that selling the house might put an end to this but she won’t be celebrating until they have a sale in the pipeline, and even then she’ll be anxious that it all goes through and won’t property celebrate until it’s sold.”
Christine and Paddy’s home features seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a home gym and even a play room complete with a ball pit, and last year a court ruled that the former couple could keep their home following their divorce if they remained at the property together.
After trying to stay together, a source shared that it was Christine who became tired of the very close co-parenting situation.
“Christine is at the end of her tether and can’t carry on living with Paddy… She is desperate to sell the house, split the proceeds, and buy a smaller property where she can live happily with their three children,” they said of her plans.
This comes as a major change from last year, when Paddy claimed that things were running smoothly in their home. “If someone didn’t know our situation and came to our house and they spent the day with us, they would not have a clue [we were not together],” Paddy told the Mirror in April 2024.
“We get on well, we live together and co-parent. We get the lawyers back and forth but that’s separate – that’s a different thing.”
