Clarkson’s Farm’s Kaleb Cooper’s passport admission as some say he’s ‘wise’

Kaleb Cooper, who stars in Amazon Prime’s Clarkson’s Farm, has opened up about life in the Cotswolds and his lack of desire for travel – and many have rushed to applaud him

Kaleb Cooper from Clarkson’s Farm has won over viewers since appearing in the Amazon Prime series alongside Jeremy Clarkson. The beloved agricultural worker is regularly praised for his work ethic and approach, though he recently sparked debate after making a startling revelation about his feelings towards holidays.

The 27-year-old from Chipping Norton recently confessed he’s never taken a holiday and has no desire to – and doesn’t even enjoy venturing to different parts of Britain. This emerged during his appearance with Top Gear icon, Jeremy Clarkson, on the Performance People podcast.

Kaleb revealed to hosts Georgie Ainslie and Olympian Sir Ben Ainslie that he doesn’t possess a passport. Jeremy informed the hosts Kaleb has “never been abroad”.

Kaleb remarked: “I was told the other day if I got one, the first one is free isn’t it?”. Clarkson replied: “It’s not the cost of the passport people consider, it’s the ability to go places with one.”

“I don’t need to,” Cooper maintained.

When presenter Georgia suggested: “But what about if you have a book signing in New York or something,” he maintained he has “no intent to go to New York”, explaining he’d prefer visiting central Chipping Norton.

Clarkson added: “Honestly when I met him…he’s never really being outside of Chipping Norton at all.”

Kaleb replied: “You sent me to London for the second time…for the wasabi which was awful.”

Georgia enquired whether he had returned since, and he revealed he had travelled to the capital for the NTAs – though he mistakenly believed he was attending the National Tractor Awards, only to discover he was actually at the National Television Awards.

Ben Ainslie observed: “If you’ve got everything on your doorstep why do you need to go anywhere else?”.

“Well exactly I have everything in Chipping Norton, the shops, the people, my family is there, I don’t need to go anywhere else,” Kaleb concluded.

Many viewers considered Kaleb “wise” for holding this view, praising the television personality and remarking how satisfied he seemed with his lifestyle in the UK. One person commented: “He is very wise. Travelling today is not easy especially with mass tourism taking over everything. Comfort and happiness at home is not dull or boring.”

Another remarked: “Kaleb doesn’t need to chase happiness, he has everything he needs, wants and loves on his doorstep. He is a lucky chap.”

Someone else noted: “It’s called being content, he has nothing to prove. Once you reach the level of contentment that he has and have no intention or interest in striving every day. Life becomes very pleasant. To find contentment in what you have is a powerful thing.

“I think he’s great, authentic and loves where he lives and works,” observed another. A different viewer penned: “I love Kaleb, probably one of the happiest human beings on earth, just shows you cars, holidays and all the material shit people are out chasing don’t always make you happy.”

Another said: “Love people who are unapologetically themselves. This show is one of the best to come out and has humanized Jeremy so much.”

One other who can relate wrote: “Everyone says why do you not go abroad, been there seen it and it’s not all that. We have all we need here in this country.”

However, not everyone agreed. One individual who cannot comprehend his decision not to get a passport, said: “Imagine staying in the same place all the time, how dull is that.”

One other said: “You don’t have to be some hippy-dippy citizen of the world to have at least some interest in going beyond the boundaries of Chipping Norton. Even if you love farming, go to Ohio or Texas and marvel at how cast it is there.”

Season 4 of Clarkson’s Farm is now available to watch on Amazon Prime Video. Series 5 is due to air next year.
