Claudia Winkleman has donated the item to War Child’s Spring Clean auction, which will give fans the chance to own a piece of TV history
Claudia Winkleman’s much-loved ‘favourite sweater’ – emblazoned with the emblem of the smash-hit series The Traitors – is going under the hammer for a charitable cause. Over 80 celebrities have raided their wardrobes for War Child’s Spring Clean event, offering fans a shot at nabbing several star-studded treasures.
An original recipe penned by Hollywood’s own Stanley Tucci and Twisters: The Album vinyl autographed by Daisy Edgar Jones are also among the items up for grabs. Claudia, 53, said: “It’s an honour to support War Child and I will always help in any small way that I can.
“This is my favourite sweater of all time. A brilliant woman made it for me and I actually skipped about when I opened it.” The TV star, known for presenting BBC’s reality series, has become synonymous with fashion-forward ensembles, frequently wearing statement coats, snazzy turtlenecks, chic fingerless gloves, and bold eye makeup on the show.
Claudia’s contribution to the auction is an eye-catching oversized red sweat vest featuring The Traitors logo. She proudly sported it at the third series’ press launch.
Bidders will also have the opportunity to buy a poster autographed by Ed Sheeran and a guitar bearing James Bay’s signature. Also up for grabs will be a pair of tickets to Aurora’s anticipated show at OVO Arena Wembley and a unique crocheted jacket from musical sensation Sam Ryder.
Meanwhile, X-Files actress and War Child ambassador Gillian Anderson will have an in-person cup of tea with three members of the public. “I’m so proud to be supporting Spring Clean for its second year,” she said.
“This time around, I’m donating a cosy tea and chat with me and two of your friends at a favourite tea spot in London. Of course, all of this is for an incredibly urgent cause.”
Last year’s auction also saw numerous unusual treasures up for bidding. A limited edition book of the Saltburn script signed by Carey Mulligan, a signed Barbie poster from Margot Robbie and the original director’s script for Love Actually were among them.
Speaking of this year’s event, Charlotte Nimmo, fundraising engagement director at War Child UK, said: “We are delighted to announce the second year of Spring Clean, made possible through the hugely generous support of the creative industries and remarkable individuals who have decided to donate this year.”
The specialist charity for children affected by conflict will run its Spring Clean auction from April 3 to 24.
