Clever cooling pillowcase is a ‘lifesaver for summer nights’ and ‘stays chilly to the touch’

“I was very sceptical about a pillowcase that stays cold, but these actually do just that!”

If heatwave nights leave you tossing and turning, a clever little bedding upgrade might be just the thing to save your sleep. The Homfine cooling pillowcases, available on Amazon for £16.98 for a pair, have been quietly building a fanbase — and for good reason.

These pillowcases are made from Japanese Arc-Chill fabric, designed specifically to draw heat away from the skin. They also absorb body heat faster than standard cotton or even many synthetic cooling materials. The result is a fabric that stays noticeably cool to the touch, even after hours of use. It’s a passive cooling effect, so there’s no need for refrigeration or plugs — just clever fabric tech that works while you sleep.

They’re also impressively soft, with a silky finish that’s gentle on skin and hair. The fabric’s smooth surface makes them a great choice for sensitive sleepers, and the breathable weave helps prevent the buildup of heat and humidity around your head and neck. The design includes a discreet zip for a snug fit, and they’re fully machine washable, so you don’t need to pay them any special attention.

Available in a pack of two and a variety of colours, they would normally cost you £20.99, but they’re on an offer for under £17 in the run up to Amazon Prime Day on July 8th.

Shoppers are calling the pillowcases a “lifesaver for summer nights” and are raving about how they “stay chilly to the touch” no matter how hot the weather gets…

One happy sleeper pens: “I was very sceptical about a pillowcase that stays cold but these actually do just that!, I am a very hot sleeper and these have helped so much, I have occasionally had to turn the pillow over but the other side is just as cold, they have a zip closing, the only thing I will say is they come up quite big in size you could get more than one pillow inside, obviously depending on the size of the pillows, they are lovely and soft to lay in and come in a choice of colours.”

Another shares a very comprehensive review, saying: “I wasn’t too sure what to expect from these cooling pillowcases, but I absolutely love turning the pillow over to the cool side, so I was excited to try something that may keep the pillows always cool! First off, the material is much thinner than I had expected, it looks and feels a lot like workout clothing material that you would use for workout vests. Very flowy and slippery to the touch, and obviously very cool to the touch too. It feels like a durable material, though; it isn’t thin in a negative way.

“The pillowcase is well constructed and was more than big enough to fit on my average-sized pillows. The material does stay nice and cool through the night, and is even better if, like me, you sleep with a fan on in the room. I am very impressed with the pillowcases, and they will be a lifesaver during the hot summer nights.”

A third weighs in with: “It is surprisingly chilly to the touch. After a little while of staying in the same position, it will lose that cool feeling, but it cools back down very quickly if you shift a bit. Even when it’s no longer cool, at the very least it stays neutral, rather than making me warmer. It’s also very soft to the touch and generally pleasant to cuddle with.

However, not all reviews were glowing, as you might expect. One shares how they prefer gel inserts to keep their pillows cool. “I have used a gel insert for years, but I’m trying to find an alternative because they always move around. This looked like a promising option, but unfortunately, they just aren’t anywhere near as good,” they say.

It’s best not to expect miracles from the Amazon pillowcases, but they are still worth trying, say over 100 shoppers. But, if you’re looking around for other nighttime cooling methods, we can also point you in the direction of Oodie, who has launched a range of cooling blankets designed to wick away heat and moisture as you sleep. Plus, the blanket is currently on sale for £69, down from £99, saving shoppers £30.
