Clothes stains will break down and whites look brand new using 3 household items

By staff30 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Cleaning fan Chantel Mila shared her simple three-ingredient hack to get white clothes looking brand new – and it’s perfect for removing stubborn stains

Keeping clothes in good condition can be challenging, particularly white garments, as they tend to become dull and discoloured with age. Following washing instructions alone sometimes isn’t enough to prevent white clothes from losing their brilliance.

Cleaning enthusiast and TikTok content creator Chantel Mila has shared her straightforward technique for brightening whites and tackling stubborn stains and blemishes, reports the Express. Before your next wash cycle, gather a few household items you probably already own to create a solution that will deliver results.

Here’s how to restore your white clothes to their former gleaming glory, remove stubborn stains and revitalise discoloured items.

How to remove stubborn stains from white clothes

Put the affected white and stained garments into a large bowl or bucket. Submerge the clothes completely in warm water.

Next, add one cup of hydrogen peroxide, which will help brighten and disinfect the garments. Following this, add one cup of baking soda to the mixture.

Chantel explained that this will help eliminate any lingering odours, whilst also helping to brighten the white fabric. Baking soda can boost the effectiveness of detergents, helping to revive dull whites.

Hydrogen peroxide is a natural bleaching agent, which means it will help restore discoloured and dull white clothes. It will also help disinfect any garments that are harbouring any nasties.

Clean Heart Maids confirmed that hydrogen peroxide ideal for treating tough stains. It wrote: “When applied to stains, it releases oxygen, which breaks down the chemical bonds in the stain’s molecules.

“This reaction lifts the stain, making it easier to wipe away.”

You can also add one last ingredient to the solution, however it is optional. Chantal added one teaspoon of washing up liquid.

This will help to lift any oil-based stains on the clothes. Let the clothes soak for 30 minutes in the solution, before placing the clothes in the washing machine and run on a normal cycle.

If you have some tougher stains, you could also make a paste with the baking soda and warm water, applying it to the affected areas as a spot treatment.
